DWTS 200th Episode!!

It is the 11th season and the 200th episode of Dancing with the Stars and to celebrate they brought in previous winners and participants to judge and head up the team dance off.  The returning stars had their best dance danced by their pick and they then helped in the judging of that particular dance.

The two returning champions on the dance floor and in the Olympics came back to coach the dance teams.  Team Kristi Yamaguchi and Team Apollo Anton Ohno.  Both teams are coached by their champ and both teams dance the Cha-cha-cha.

Team Kristi:  Rick and Cheryl, Kyle and Lacey and Bristol and Mark

Team Kristi, in my humble opinion was the weaker team.  She and Apollo got to pick their teams.  Kristi did an awesome job with her team.  She is so positive and upbeat.  A great coach.  They performed brilliantly. Len said, "You are the under dogs, but you dogs put up quite a fight!"  Bruno thought it was a great Michael Jackson inspired Cha-Cha, despite Bristol "going wrong."  Carrie Ann begged to differ telling them they were in sync, working as a group and Bristol was right there with them.  And of course, "Rick was on fire!"

Scores:
Carrie Ann:  8
Len: 8
Bruno: 8
Total: 24

Team Apollo:  Brandy and Maks, Jennifer and Derek, and Kurt and Anna

This dance was a much more difficult dance.  And it was executed with near perfection.  Apollo makes a good coach, but he was a bit tougher than Kristi.  Bruno said it was the Cha Cha with the flavor of the hood.  Carrie Ann  told them that they all worked their best.  Len said they all upped their game.

Scores:
Carrie Ann:  9
Len: 9
Bruno: 9
Total: 27

Our first celebrity judge is Mel B. from season five.  She wowed the audience with her fiery Paso Doble.  And that is the dance that Kyle Macey and Lacey Schwimmer had to duplicate.  In this dance, Lacey says Kyle has to be aggressive and tough.  Which, she said are things he is not.  He is very much a boy in rehearsal, but he pulled it together and gave a serious and fierce performance.  No, it did not match Mel's, but he did good.  Len told him it was his best dance yet.  Mel told him he blew her away.  Bruno told him he had the energy and the attack of an untamed bull.  He warned him to keep his shoulders down. Carrie Ann pointed out that this was a hard number to live up to and that Mel was in her own power in her dance.  "You did the exact same thing."

Scores:
Carrie Ann:9
Len: 9
Bruno: 8
Mel: 10
Total: 36/60

From season 3, Emmit Smith and his Tango.  In rehearsal, Anna keeps assuring Kurt that the dance isn't that hard.  He points out that it is not that hard for her.  And then he takes her to a football practice to see how the other half lives.  His dance was well done, but I felt he wasn't quite relaxed enough.  When he is more relaxed, he gets that Gene Kelly vibe!  Bruno said that he went from Mission Impossible(last week) to Mission Accomplished!  He got him on posture though.  Carrie Ann told him how she enjoyed Emmitt and the character he had originally brought to the dance, and then she applauded Kurt for bringing in his own.  And added that his posture had improved.  Emmitt told him he understood the posture thing.  "You're trying to protect yourself."  Emmitt went on to say he was dapper and that he saw something very special. Len praised him for coming back stronger each time, but told him to learn the difference between a flexed knee and a bent one.

Scores:
Emmitt: 10
Carrie Ann:  8
Len: 8
Bruno: 8
Total: 34/61

Kelly Osborne from season 9 and her break out dance, the Viennese Waltz.  When   Kelly danced  this dance she danced  like she felt beautiful, and that is what made it so great.  Bristol and Mark have this dance.  Bristol does a lovely job, but here is my problem, I find myself comparing the two.  Apples and oranges.  At one point, I felt she wasn't trusting in Mark.  By week 7, your trust issues should be gone. Carrie Ann told her she has the power to touch us, but that she is slightly detached.
Kelly on the other hand was moved and appreciated how hard this was for her.  Len enjoyed her, pointed out her good foot work, but said that she lacks chemistry with her partner.  Bruno told her she moves well, and that it happens naturally.  He told that when she dances she needs to become someone else.

Scores:
Kelly: 9
Carrie Ann: 8
Len: 8
Bruno: 8
Total: 33/57

Helio Castroneves from season 5 and his Quick Step from The Mask.  He was in a bright yellow suit in this performance much like the one Jim Carrey wore in the movie.  For this reason, Len Goodman called him, "Banana Man!"  The dance is  for Rick Fox and Cheryl Burke.  Cheryl brings in his girlfriend to help him loosen up and not be so serious.  Well it worked.  I have never seen him so relaxed and having so much fun as he did tonight.  Instead of yellow, Rick wore bright almost neon green.  Kristin dubbed him "Broccoli Man."  Personally I thought he looked like a giant Leprechaun.  But I like "Broccoli Man" better.  I digress.  Len told him that when he enjoys himself, 'we enjoy it.'  Bruno said he made more faces than Jim Carrey!  Helio accused him of stealing his moves, and then asked Len what his nickname would be.  They landed on Jolly Green Giant.  Really?  That's the BEST they can do?  I give you:  Broccoli Man!  And Carrie Ann told him it was by far his very best.

Scores:
Helio:  10
CA:9
Len: 9
Bruno:9

Gilles Marini was next.  I was certain the dance would be his Argentine Tango.  It was amazing and well, it was hot.  But the dance, instead, was The Fox Trot for Brandy and Maks.  Maks tells her this dance is all about attitude and being hot and steamy.  It was all that and more.  Bruno said that it was a Fox Trot sizzling with sex.  "I've had enough for 3 months now!"  Then he pointed out a mistake that I missed. Gilles said that the performance was unreal! Carrie Ann told her she was beautiful and elegant, but told her not to make faces at her mistakes.  I missed that too.  Len said he was surprised at these people for picking on a little mistake when we have seen the most fantastic Fox Trot ever!!

Scores:
Gilles: 9
CA: 9
Len: 10
Bruno: 9
Total:37/64

Drew Lachey from season two and his Tango was for Derek and Jennifer.  This was a particularly hard week for her due to health issues.  Her doctor told her for every two hours of practice she is to stop and rest.  Gees.  I am ready to drop after an hour of Zumba!  After a couple of rough weeks, she comes back shinning.  Their Tango rocks my world.  Carrie Ann told her it was a great come back.  Len said she used that frustration from the past two weeks and put it into her Tango.  Bruno said it was like watching a Phoenix rise from its ashes looking more glorious than before.  Drew told her that her musicality was amazing and that her lines were amazing.

Scores:
Drew:  10
CA: 9
Len: 9
Bruno: 9
Total: 37/64

I really enjoyed their 200th celebration! But all good things must come to an end, and alas, we must bid adieu to our beloved "Broccoli Man."  Indeed, Rick Fox and Cheryl Burke are the couple going home.

Great recap! I was off work the other day and the view was talking about brisol palin and they were saying how they like her etc. Sounds like she did well, but I could see how Kelly Osborne would do better, with maybe dancing with slightly less detachment. Very cool how dancing can show your personality etc.
