DWTS Finals

The Final Three

Tonight the final couples are dancing two dances.  The first dance is the judges pick and the second is the much anticipated:  Free Style.  For their first dance, Chelsea and Mark are dancing the Samaba.   Chelsea  gets special coaching from Carrie Ann who tells her to loosen up her hips for the Samba.

Their Samba, for me, almost had a more retro feel to it.  Perhaps it was the music.  The music can have a great impact on a dance.  So can choreography.  They danced it great, I just didn't feel too much Samba.

Len said, "Every step you take, I'll be watching you!" He said that over all it was well done.
Bruno called her an ultra sexy bombshell and a firecracker of the samba.
Carrie Ann said she was Hot hot hot! And that Chelsea was on fire. "This is SO what I wanted from you!"

Scores:
Carrie Ann:  10
Len: 9
Bruno: 10
Total: 29

Kirstie and Maks are also dancing the Samba.   Maybe it was the music.  Maybe it was the choreography.  Whatever it was, I liked their dance much better.

Bruno said it was softer, richer and full of lively pleasures. He said there was a  tiny mistep on the floor. Huh?  There was?
Carrie Ann said how different from Chelsea she was.  How it was the same dance but so very different. "A really great Samba!"
Len called it a different style of Samba and very appealing.  He said that it could been crisper but that it was well done.

Scores:
Carrie Ann:  9
Len: 9
Bruno: 9
Total: 27

Hines and Kym dance the Quickstep to "Puttin' On The Ritz."  And it is awesome.  That's all I got.

Carrie Ann said it was so much fun.  "When you dance, it's like watching you running a touch down!"
Len told him that only the best dancer will win the mirror ball. He said there was vast improvement, but that he was "not quite there yet." he got boos from the audience, and  Carrie Ann called him, "Grumpy" He then challenged Hines to show him the wow factor in the Free Style.
Bruno called it a mega production of Broadway with excitement and entertainment.

Scores:
Carrie Ann:  10
Len: 9
Bruno: 10
Total: 29

Freestyles:

Chelsea and Mark are up first going for fresh and edgy.  It was definitely fresh and funky. And there was a wardrobe malfunction.  See those light up shoes?  Chelsea's battery pack came loose and ultimately disconnected causing her shoes to "turn off."

Len said it was a celebration of entertainment and that it was fantastic.
Bruno called it electrifying; saying they pushed it to the limit looking like they were plugged into the national grid.
Carrie Ann was at a loss for words so she simply got up and hooped and hollered for them.

Carrie Ann:  10
Len: 10
Bruno: 10
Total: 30/59

Kirstie Alley you rocked my world with your freestyle!  Lifts and cartwheels at sixty!  I want to do that NOW!  Seriously she did amazing.

Bruno was honest and said that 10 weeks ago he never would have thought she would even attempt to do lifts. "You have to really appreciate what you have achieved.  Romance! Sexy! Gymnastics!  Respect girl!"
Carrie Ann said she should be the poster girl for life as it should be at 60!
Len liked the elements of rumba and cha cha.  He said he loved the lifts and the fact that she took risks.  "I thought you were great and I commend you! Well done!"

Socres:
Carrie Ann:  9
Lwn: 9
Bruno: 9
Where are the ten's, yo!?
Total: 27/54

Hines wants his free style to be like the half time show at Super Bowl. And that is what it is!  Awesome!  And then I just got mad because who in the world do I vote for now!?

Carrie Ann began telling them that their dance was risky.  "That wasn't really a half time show....  That was the whole damn super bowl! Those lifts were insane!"  They did several where Hines was tossing her around and around.  Given her injury, it was scary to watch.
Len said that the competition is about give and take and that tonight Hines gave it his all.
Bruno said that Hines and Kym pulled out all the stops and created a crowd pleasing event!!

Scores:
CA:  10
Len: 10
Bruno: 10
Total: 30/59

And the winners are:

3rd:  Chelsea and Mark
2nd:  Kirstie and Maks
Champs:  Hines and Kym

Wow what a season!  I can hardly wait for Season 13 beginning on Sept. 19th.

I knew they would win. I wanted Kirstie to win. :(
Oh well. I still need to watch it to see the free styles.

LOVE! I was so thrilled to see Hines win...I even voted this time!

I was shocked that Kirstie came in second, I mean obviously her fans carried her this far, but I figured the fans of the show would've been voting for the people that were really good. It was impressive seeing her do cartwheels and I totally agree with what Carrie Ann said.

Mark and Chelsea's dance didn't impress me. I was a little bummed about it, I expected more.

Oh I will have to go find some clips from the freestyle-they all sound worth watching.
Thanks for your recaps-you made it so I knew what was happening even though I didn't watch this year :)

I really figured Kirstie would be 3rd. I hoped Hines would win it but was thinking that Chelsie might be the dark horse and win it. I missed out on finding out the results last night b/c bad weather caused the weatherman to break in and that's all there was to it :(... but I"m pleased with the results.
