DWTS Season 14--Starts of with BANG!

Season 14 is going to be amazing!  And that is all I have to say about that.  Let's get this party started!

 Derek and Maria 1-800-868-3401

Derek describes Maria's first dance steps as "Bambi like"....on ice.  She has an....interesting laugh. It borders on creepy.  You just have to hear it to truly appreciate it.  Maria will definitely have the male vote, while Derek will have the female vote. I see lots of potential here.  She just needs to step out of her shell, and she won't have to step far either.  She did good.

Len told her that nothing prepares you for the first dance, and that overall she coped very well. He said she needed a little more hip action but great stuff otherwise.
Bruno said she was  curvaciously delicious, and that her timing was good.  He wants her to be softer on the hip work.  "Open the sex spot."
Carrie Ann told her she did a great job, but she wanted to see more confidence in her.
Scores
Carrie Ann:  7
Lren: 7
Bruno: 7
Total: 21

 Jack and Anna 1-800-868-3402

Jack says he has a problem waiting, that he wants to be able to do it NOW!  This will lead to a lot of frustration in rehearsal.  Perfectionism is rough.  But it can be a driving force, because he can sing, he can act and he can dance.  Their Fox Trot is sweet!

Bruno said there was love in the air. And added that they danced beautifully.
Carrie Ann was very excited and said that they took her to a happy place.
Len said there was a lightness and feel good feeling about it, but that the technique was poor.  (Lots of booing here) "But the performance is good."
Scores:
Carrie Ann:  8
Len: 7
Bruno: 8
Total: 23

Don and Peta 1-800-868-3403

Peta says Don has the skinniest legs she has ever seen.  I have to  agree.  It doesn't matter though.  On the dance floor.  He can move.

Carrie Ann says he has charisma and charm. And that he kicked that cha's bootie--did she say humped? I mean I know I have hearing issues....but I swear I heard humped! "I can't wait to see you come back next week."
Len said his attitude was good, there was attack and flare, but that he lost his timing.
Bruno called him a diamond in the rough.  "You were like a rooster.  The attitude is right, but you have to refine it."
Scores:
Carrie Ann:  7
Len: 7
Bruno: 7
Total: 21

Gavin and Karina 1-800-868-3404

Gavin is stepping out of his comfort zone by stepping away from the piano and onto the dance floor.  he says when Karina does it, it is dancing, when he does it, it looks like an injury.  They are dancing the Fox Trot. He's way better than he says he is.

Len tells him he did well with a difficult dance, that he was a little stiff lacked and he lacked fluidity. (Gees Len, who spit in your coffee?)

Bruno on the other hand felt it had a gentle quality quality and charm.  he just wanted Gavin to work on linking the movements.

Carrie Ann said he had great musical interpretation.  "The flow between music is nice; what is lacking is the arm extension."
Scores:
Carrie Ann:  7
Len:  6
Len: 7
Total: 20

Roshon and Chelsie 1-800-868-3405

Roshon has experience in freestyle and hip hop dance, but will this help him on the dance floor?  He is very much a young (boy) man.  I think Chelsie will train him up right.  He is very clumsy in rehearsal.  On the floor, he wows.  I look forward to seeing him doing the Waltz, and other more serious type dances.

Bruno exclaims that Roshon can go on and on! "Unbelievable!"

Carrie Ann told him that was the coolest spin she's seen in the Cha Cha in  all 14 seasons of Dancing with the Stars.

Len told him there is no question he can dance, that there was high performance, but low technique. He said there was too much hip hop not enough cha cha.  I have to agree with Len.  Roshon can definitely dance, but he has to change the style.

Scores:
CA: 8
Len: 7
Bruno: 8
Total: 23

Sherri and Val 1-800-868-3406

Sherri screams the first time she meets Val.  This is an idea of what she is like.  She is loud and wild.  The kind of gal you WANT to go shopping with and to lunch.  You know would die laughing.  Or at least pee yourself.    Their song is Sherry.  Really.  Despite that.  Their foxtrot is great.  And she is having a blast.  She is sooo happy!

Carrie Ann says it too, "You are the happiest contestant ever! I love watching you."  She says she goes from sassy to beautiful.

Len said she brought the joy of dance into the ballroom.

Bruno said he could do sherry everyday of the week! He said that she moves very well, and that her timing was good.  "You light up the room!"

While receiving their scores, Sherri said that she apologized for everything she ever said on the View about the Stars on the show.  It is way harder than she thought.  And then she added, "I think I left a boob on the dance floor, if anybody finds it...."

Melissa and Maks 1-800-868-3407

After 16 years with Bruce Boxleitner, her marriage ended, she also suffered a broken back, and so she wanted to challenge herself. She must be a lot like her past character Laura Ingalls, as her partner is Maks  who is most definitely a challenge! During rehearsal she told him ,"There's no cha-cha on the prairie dude." I think Melissa will give Maks a run for his money!  For someone who once broke her back, she sure can move.

Len told her she needed more hip action, but that this was a very ambitious routine and that he thought she coped well.
Bruno said it was the Attack of Women in Black.  "You can grind it!"  But added that there was work to do.
Carrie Ann said she saw great potential, and great foot work. She noted that perhaps nerves were in the way and advised her  to be free and let it go.

Scores:
CA:  7
Len: 6
Bruno: 7
Total: 20

William and Cheryl 1-800-868-3408

First of all, Cheryl is in heaven. Second, all the girls hate her now.  When William sees his dance shoes he says "They look like my grandmother's shoes" in Spanish.  He is surprised at how hard it is.   The dance is the cha cha and it is very good.  His Latin blood flows very well throughout.

(Bruno this may be your best line yet)" Dancing with the Stars presents your hottest package of the season!"
Carrie Ann comes in with a close second: "I would like to thank ABC for my job!"  She tells him he can dance and that she likes the way he moves.
Len praised him for keeping the spirit of the Cha-Cha and keeping it in control.  "Well done."

CA:  8
Len: 8
Bruno: 8

Martina and Tony 1-800-868-3409

Her biggest concern is not only wearing the high heels, but dancing in them.  She wants to overcome her insecurity.(Isn't amazing to think that people like this have insecurities???) Oh and she hasn't worn a dress in 20 years. They are dancing the Fox Trot.   It is clean and careful.Next week, she needs to step it up.

Carrie Ann said she was so beautiful and refined.  She advised her to work on her turns.
Len said it was close but not quite there.  He said it was too careful. (Holy Mother I am agreeing with Len AGAIN!?) He went to say that in tennis you go for it.  "Go for it."
Bruno told her that she has never looked better. He called her stunning.  He wants her to extend her moves, and work on her footwork.
Scores:
CA:  7
Len: 6
Bruno: 7
Total: 20

 Katherine and Mark 1-800-868-3410

She is amazing singer.  She is absolutely adorable, and as she says she is way out of her comfort zone.  Their dance is beautiful, but at the end she looked like she was going to puke.  Don't worry Katherine.  You will be here a while!  Relax.  Breathe.....

Len told her she had wonderful musicality and that he loved the detail. He wanted her to remember to lift her rib cage.
Bruno called it exquisite and said that the quality was surreal.  He said that she is setting the bar so high she will have a lot to live up too.
Carrie Ann told her it got really quiet and it was because it was like watching two pros together.
Scores:
CA:  9
Len: 8
Bruno: 9
Total: 26

Gladys and Tristan

She attended every rehearsal the Pips ever had, despite that, they didn't let her dance.  Too bad, because she can dance.  And she will give her younger competitors a run for their money.  Besides, she's got Tristan as her partner.  I like him.

Bruno was very pleased. "You've got the moves!  You're a star!  A real one."

Carrie Ann told her it made her want to get up and dance.

Len said there was a naturalness about her dancing; that it wasn't forced.
Scores:
CA:  8
Len: 7
Bruno: 8
Total:  23

Jaleel and Kym

Jaleel White...you know Urkel...he says...if you want to win, you don't him!  Kym says he is a natural.  And wow, is he ever. Smooth.

Carrie Ann said he was icing on the cake.
Len said he loved watching the routine. "Best first show of any season!"
Bruno had the best compliment though: "I thought I was watching the great Gregory Hines!"  (Seriously!  I totally agree with this!)
Scores:
CA:  9
Len: 8
Bruno: 9
Total: 26

The dancers get another week to prove themselves worthy of staying on the show.  But holy cow!  Who do you choose!???

I really think I liked Maria & Derek better than Jack and Anna and they scored better.... weird!

And Jaleel has my votes. I wanted to see him so bad. I loved how they showed that episode of him on FM Get down with your bad self. ha!

I saw the second half of the show, and I was pretty impressed that there really aren't any duds this time around. Everyone has potential!
