What's For Dinner

What's for dinner?  How many times in one day do you hear that question?  For me, it is at least four times a day, and sometimes within seconds of each other.  This, I do not understand.  Were they listening, and they ask anyway.  Do they think the answer will change?  Are they testing me to see if perhaps I forgot what I already said.  It can make a person nuts.
Oh sure I have thought about putting a sign somewhere that reads:  Dinner tonight is hamburger helper.  But that would require actual reading.  Also I don't always know what I willing to cook I will be making.  Certain days require take out simple preparation. I am not a menu planner.  I am more of a buy-the-meat-that-is-on-sale-and-make-whatever-comes-to-mind-kind of gal.

I really dread this question.  Perhaps because I get asked every day at least 4 times.  Sometimes more.  And because I dread the question, I sometimes like to use sarcasm honesty.  My favorite answers are:  food, I don't know...what are you making?  Fried boogers--yes I have actually said that.  Liver and onions--no I will not eat that.  Squid. Nothing.  YOYO (you're on your own.)

Do you dread this question?  What are some of your favorite answers?

YES! I usually know what's for dinner because I meal plan but my kids are picky eaters. I dread the question because I know they're going to complain about my answer.

I've got a weekly menu, and now that my youngest can read, she likes to pick what she wants. Sometimes I am okay making it that night.
Before she could read, my fave responses were "roasted rhinocerous" or "pickled pig's feet".

I ask myself this question. I hate it. Every. Single. Day.

Yes. Sassy asks me everyday & she's never likes my answer. The only way my children would be happy is if we had McDonald's every night.

We answer food a lot. But now that we're on a diet... it makes it a lot easier b/c we have to plan ;)

Amen sister!
My kids love it when I say FFY (meaning fend for yourself) which to them means "have all the cold cereal you want"

i'm like the kids. i can ask my mom what's for dinner, forget two seconds later, and ask again. this happens at least a few times a week, sadly.

I often don't tell my kids what I am making as they will just say ewww I don't like that. And I would rather wait to hear that when I put the dinner on the table instead of during the time I am preparing it and putting it on the table :)

That is funny since I am always the one who is asking "What should I make for dinner?" I love cooking. Really. I think Jeffrey gets very tired of me asking that question.

I actually don't hear this question yet. I hate more the 'I hate this food! I'm not going to eat that!' That's what causes me to not cook... The joys of children.

I usually don't know until an hour before dinner. I'm the worst about meals!
