Kid TV

  • I let my kids watch TV.  Shocker, I know.
  • I let them watch for more than an hour at a time too.
  • Especially when I am down with a migraine.
  • But sometimes just because I have things I want need to do.
  • A lot of times they will start watching one of their shows and then they will leave the room to go and play.
  • And I don't turn the TV off.
  • I keep watching their show.
  • I don't want to watch it.  It's on.
  • If the remote is across the room, the TV will stay on...
  • until I get up.
  • Usually this is about the time the kids come back
  • And ask me why I turned off the TV
  • I didn't realize I was supposed to leave it on.
  • If the remote is by me that implies control has been relinquished back to me.
  • Sometimes I will change the channel and watch one of "my shows."
  • But I don't want to explain what "Slut" means while I am watching Golden Girls.
  • So that is why I just watch their stuff during the day.
  • Yeah that's it.
What is it that you do not do?  Inquiring minds want to know!

Yeah I don't watch any of my shows during the day for the same reason. And our TV has often been left on with no one watching.

I've left the tv on a channel I didn't want to watch because I was too lazy to go over there and do anything about it. But honestly, I would still sit and watch Sesame Street. LOL

I rarely watch any of my shows during the day. The kids monopolize ALL the tv's in the house.
I'm chuckling again dear blogging buddy.
I so want to do confessional today with you.
The phenom that kids create with tv is interesting isn't it?
I remember when my daughter would have on "Wizards of Waverly Place' and I'd watch because isn't a good mom supposed to be with their kids and then she gets a call and I'm into the stupid story. I'm like "What the heck? I'm watching 'Waverly Place?!!"
Of course now she's eighteen and I look at those years and the house is quiet most of the time when I write and I'm like that movie,
"You've Got Mail" and Meg Ryan's character is shutting the bookstore door for the last time and sees her mother and her as a child in the bookstore.
So I've glanced over at the couch as I read what you wrote and that we sat together watching the dumb shows and I'm smiling at the same time my eyes have teared a little.
Life is just headshaking isn't it buddy?
Good times, good times.
