What the Future Holds...

It's the beginning of the end!  This week is the placement for the semi-finals.  The couples have two dances tonight.  Their second dance had a decade of music attached to it.  Sounds okay, til you get a 1950's Paso???

Chad and Cheryl:  The Dance: The Tango  I am so over Chad.  Well, let's be honest here.  I never cared for him in the first place.  I flashed on a show my girls watch called "Sonny with a Chance"  a show within a show.  The neighboring studio has a diva boy and his name is also Chad.  And he is all about CHAD.  The kid who plays him does a good job.  The thing about that Chad is, he is actually decent underneath all his Chadness.  Underneath Chad Occhocinco is just more Chad Occhocinco.    The only reason he is still here is because his football buddies are threatening to beat anybody up who doesn't vote for him.  Len told him learning two dances is very hard and that he needed more refinement and polish.  Bruno said he needed to be slicker, and Carrie Ann loved his attack but his posture was funky.  Hello, it's because he can't dance!

Scores:
Carrie Ann: 7
Bruno: 7
Len: 7
Total: 21

Niecy and Louis:  The Dance:  The Viennese Waltz.  Niecy's day starts at 5AM.  Do I even want to know when it ends???  Ummmm no I do not.  She had her kids send pictures of what they planned on wearing to school.  She was being a mom.  In hair and make up, but a mom doing what mom's do.

Niecy was stiff tonight.  I cringed a little for her.  Nerves?  Lack of sleep and or rest?  I do not know, but I fear for her safely securing a spot.  Bruno must have felt this way too because he told her she looked very frigid and that she looked as if she was being chased by a swarm of wasps.  Carrie Ann confirmed this and pointed out there was too much push and pull going on.  But Len, liked it.  He told her she had a lovely floaty quality.  She asked him if he thought she lifted her "carriage" enough.  His response, "You did in fact it was so high I am surprised you could hear the music."

Carrie Ann; 7
Len;8
Bruno: 8

Carrie Ann is feeling crabby.  PMS?

Erin and Maks:  The Dance:  Argentine Tango.  Maks wants Erin to make a flying leap from the stairs to him.  Not a big deal...except...he wants her to land against him practically doing the splits.  She nails it in practice, then kind of slumps against him and says, "Does this look right?  It looks like I'm humping a fire hydrant."  Well fire hydrant or not, she did that move and it looked amazing.  Their dance was fiery and spot on.  The audience was going crazy for it.  They got a standing ovation.  Carrie Ann must be PMS as her mood swing has turned a 180.  She gives Len a big kiss on the cheek and says, "So HOT!  Phenomenal!"  Len must have been a little giddy from Carrie Ann's kiss as he looked to Erin and said, "You dirty dirty dirty girl!" Bruno only added to the fun when he looked at Maks, "You're a very lucky fire hydrant!" and to Erin, "I never thought you could be so bendy! You were on fire!"

Scores:
Carrie Ann: 9
Len: 10
Bruno: 9
Total:28

Evan and Anna:  The dance: The Waltz .  This week Evan takes Anna to his side of the pond.  He took her skating.  He had fun telling her what she was doing wrong. Their dance began with them lying on the floor.  This is a big no-no on Len's no-no list.  They quickly got up, and danced while doing it.  Don't ask.  They did though. I thought for a fleeting moment, that they would be okay. Wellll, Len couldn't decide if he liked it or not.  He did not like, "the roly poly stuff on the floor." Bruno loved the romance of the story.  Carrie Ann once again loves his lines.  But wants him to lose himself in the dance.  I haven't seen him skate enough to know if he does that with skating or not.  But if he does, losing himself in the dance should be easy.

Scores:
Carrie Ann:    9
Len: 9
Bruno: 9
Total:27

Nicole and Derek: The Dance  Fox Trot.  After this season is over, Nicole better take a long vacation where there are drinks with umbrellas and cabana boys.  She had a mini meltdown and was reduced to tears.  She just wants to be perfect.  There isn't perfect honey.  Just do the best you can do and have fun doing it!  Bruno said it was one and a half minutes of pure dancing joy!  I couldn't agree more!  Carrie Ann called it dazzling and commended them both for constantly setting the bar higher. Len didn't like the lack of holds, but said it was a great dance just the same.

Scores:
Carrie Ann: 10
Len: 9
Bruno: 10
Total: 29

Okay, as I watch this show each Monday night, my fingers are flying faster than I am accustomed to.  I make tons of mistakes, and on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning I have to decipher my "typing."  That being said, I have no idea what this dance was for, other than a space filler maybe, by guest dancers.  It was a futuristic dance of some sort.  I was totally lost by it.  I think the picture speaks for itself.  I just have to say, if this is how we are all going to look in the future, count me out!
I mean seriously....what the.....???

Dance #2 for  Chad and Cheryl:  Jive/60's Dancing to "The Love Man"  Chad proudly proclaims,  "That's what I am, "the LOVE man."  I think I just threw up a little.  I hated this dance.  There I said it.  The judges gave him more love than I thought necessary.

Scores:
Carrie Ann:  8
Len: 8
Bruno: 8
Total: 24/45

Neicey and Louis:  The Dance/Decade  Paso/90's.  Again she was rough around the edges.  She wasn't at the top of her game.  Len even gave her the "Everyone has a dance that doesn't suit them," speech.  Ouch.

Scores: Carrie Ann: 7
Len: 6
Bruno: 7
Total: 20/43  Ouch!

Erin and Maks:  The dance/decade:  80's/rumba.  The Rumba is very suggestive, very sexy, slow and fluid.  Erin really has the perfect body for this.  Long and leggy.  She was a bit "jerky" in places.  Len pointed it out.  I saw it.  What happened to that steam you had in the Tango, Erin?

Scores:
CarrieAnn:  8
Len: 8
Bruno: 9
Total 25/53

Evan/Anna:  The dance and decade: Futuristic Chacha. Anna says she wants them to be  cool and modern as opposed to cheeky and fun.  This will work well for Evan since he hasn't quite learned how to pull it all together.  The technical and emotional aspects.  It was weird, but good.  And thankfully not nearly as weird as the silver people.

Scores:
Carrie Ann:  9
Len: 8
Bruno: 9

Total:  26/53

Nicole and Derek:  The Dance/Decade:  Paso, 50's.  I don't know how he did it, but he did it.  He made that odd combination work.  And I don't know, but every time I see him in black, I am immediately brought to Dirty Dancing.  If anyone could reprise that role, it would be him.  Oh wait...off track...sorry.  They did awesome!

I have to quote Bruno here, what kind of Bruno lover would I be if I didn't?   "Beauty and the rebel in a feisty vibrant passionate performance!  The flavor of Spain has never tasted so good."  Carrie Ann was almost too busy giggling to say anything.  Did someone spike her drink?

Scores:Carrie Ann:  10
Len: 10
Bruno: 10
Total:  30/59

I went to bed Monday night knowing and dreading that Niecy would be the one sent home.  It's not fair.  She is such a sweet lady.  Funny and the kind gal you would want to have as your best friend.  But I just knew.  And I hate it when I am right.  But she is one heck of a gal.  She said, "I'm not going to cry over this.  There is much more I can cry about, but this, no way!"  She loved every minute of it.  We will miss you Niecy!
