Ramblings

Ramblings...aka "Random Friday's" are just that...random thoughts or ramblings of the mind.

I think I need a haircut.  I think I need a haircut because it has been approximately 3 months since my last haircut.  I think I need a haircut because my hair is laying limp and lifeless.  Maybe it is depressed.  I think I need a haircut because I am beginning to look like Cousin It.

Yeah, I think I need a haircut.

It's finally Friday!!!  No homework.   I think I get more excited about this than the kids do.  And what are our big plans for the weekend?  Beyond restoring order to the chaos, I am not sure.  Rich works Saturday so there isn't much room for family fun until after 3.  But, it's Friday.  We usually let the kids stay up a little later than normal.  Play the wii or some other game.  Sometimes we watch a movie on pay per view.

Reading is good.  I love to read.  I can literally be whisked away in a book.  When I am reading I become part that world.  I am the quiet observer who gets to hang out with the main characters.  I can shut off the rest of the world and be in my own sweet place.  I don't do this for myself anymore.  And what's worse, I have done my kids a disservice by not giving them my love of books.  There's a lot of negativity about reading around them--mostly at school.  I will leave it at that.  Both of them struggle with it.  The answer of course...READING!!  I tried to get them to read.  The most I got was reading with Kristin.  Not that this is a bad thing.  It's good.  I just wish they could appreciate it the way I do.

I have to go to the store today.  It's my regular day to go.  I go with my mom.  The clerks know us well enough that when they see one and not the other, it throws them.  I don't want to go to the store.  I don't have a list made.  I want to take a nap instead.  Naps are good.

Yesterday I had to bring the garbage bins back from the curb.  Why?  Because I forgot to tell Rich to do it.  And he didn't think of it either.  It was raining...pouring actually.  I put my raincoat on and braved it.  One of the trash bins had been left open by the trash collectors.  It had about a foot of water in it.  By the time I got back in side...less than 5 minutes...I had to change my shoes, socks, and pants.

<---picture of the day .  More rain to come.

I am a firm believer that the number one way to have kids who love to read is for them to see you read for pleasure. It worked at my house...perhaps a little too well. ;)

All your water is snow at my house. I'm shocked at the amount of rain CA is getting, and at the snow CO is getting.

I just got my hair cut. I'm still getting used to it, but I like it. It's different.

I don't grocery shop anymore, my husband does it. I can't do 2 carts of food plus one cart of kids.

BTW, I love your occupation: CEO of the house.

Wow! You got wet.
And yes I so love getting lost in a book. Not many things better than that.

I always loved the world of books. I hope that is at least one good thing you learned from me.

You can pass it on to your kids. Turn off the TV and the computer...just for a little while and pick up a book.

I'm always excited when there's no homework. It means no arguments for me!

I always leave the garbage bins out until my husband can bring them in. I'm lazy that way, also he's not jumping up to bathe the kids when they're sticky, so it's a trade off. ;)

Thanks for stopping by today.

Don't you just love big rainstorms like that?

Until you have to go out in them . . .

Love your random post (mostly because it makes my random posts ok)! Let's see...cut your hair, it's fun! You know I love to read, but here's the deal. My mom bought me lots of different books when I was a kid/teen until I found the type/genre/etc I liked and then I was hooked. Just a thought. I hope it stops raining soon, I hate wet socks most of all! Enjoy the wii, I can't wait to unpack mine!
