DWTS-- Classical Night

Better late than never!!!  They have gone classical tonight, complete with a full orchestra.  This presents at least two challenges:  performing with a full orchestra and using classical music for dances...this doesn't always work.

Katherine and Mark 1-800-868-3410

Katherine and Mark  are dancing the Rumba.  What amazes about Katherine is how she manages to fall in rehearsal every week and then in performance she pulls off the dance of a pro!

Len called it a classy Rumba.
Bruno said she was an entertain-able object of desire(but he does like his Rumba's raunchier)
Carrie Ann on the other hand felt it could have generated more heat, but the lines were perfect.
 Scores:
Carrie Ann:  9
Len: 9
Bruno: 9
Total: 27

Melissa and Maks 1-800-868-3407

Maks has a cyst and some fractures in his foot, but the show must go on. They carry out rehearsals with his brother Val. As a result, their Argentine Tango is rough, but overall pretty good.

Bruno said it got messy, and that it looked like they were riding the cyclone on Coney Island.
Carrie Ann called it  Cirque Du Soleil gone horribly wrong.  "You went for quantity(they did several lifts as they are allowed for this dance) and not quality."
Len said it was like a marriage, dance is movement and music.  It was full on, but lacked quality.
Scores
Carrie Ann:  7
Len: 7
Bruno: 7
Total: 21

William and Cheryl 1-800-868-3408

William and Cheryl have the Viennese Waltz and William is  another one with an injury.  Every season there are injuries.  It just goes without saying.  Their dance is pretty and elegant.
Carrie Ann said that it had true content and true dancing.
Len told them he wasn't in Vienna, but he close...he was in Austria.
Bruno said he put his heart and soul into this dance, and it was very touching.
Scores:
Carrie Ann:  9
Len: 9
Bruno: 9
Total: 27

 Roshon and Chelsie 1-800-868-3405

Roshon still has a lot of growing to do, but I must say I am very impressed with him.  During rehearsal Chelsie grabbed his rear and said, "You need to be like this!" and pushed his butt up into proper frame and position.  No reaction.  None.  He stayed in frame and kept on going.  That alone impressed me.  Come on she's a cute hot blonde.  Their dance was very good, but he still has growing to do.
Len called their lifts seamless in transition.  "Clean and confident."
Bruno said that Roshon is the man, but that he has to work on his legs, because his feet are wobbly.
Carrie Ann gave him a  hug and said, "Welcome back!"  She added that he was steady on his feet, and she had no idea what the other two were talking about.
Scores:
Carrie Ann:  9
Len: 8
Bruno:  8
Total:  25

Donald and Peta 1-800-868-3403

Donald and Peta also are dancing The Viennese Waltz and Peta is raising the bar. She choreographs a dance for a pro.  The judges said to bring it.  And they brought it.

Bruno said "You've got it!  I love it."
Carrie Ann admits she did not see a lift. (she was looking down) Tsk. Tsk. You are losing your touch Carrie Ann!  She said she loves the intensity and pristine quality he has and added that it is regal.
Len said his footwork was spot on and it was a great job overall.
Scores:
Carrie Ann:  9
Len: 9
Bruno: 9
Total: 27

1-800-868-3401

It's funny to listen to the partners talk about each other, because the celebrity says this is what my partner thinks, and then the pro comes on and says the polar opposite.  In Maria and Derek's case, he thinks she is awesome and can do it, but feels he doesn't do right by her.  She feels she doesn't do right by him.  Crazy.  Speaking of crazy, girl is dancing on busted up feet.  She may have problems the rest of her life.  But she is good.  They are dancing the Paso Doble.  She's a vampire, with fangs and everything.  It's quite dramatic.  After the bite, he falls dead and she drags him over to the judges table.
Carrie Ann told them it didn't suck! And that they were on fire!
Len said  they lived it, and he loved it.
Bruno, oh Bruno...."Queen of the damned is Queen of the night! Bite me, turn me right now! The dance was spellbinding!"
Scores:
Carrie Ann:  10
Len: 10
Bruno: 10  (he found it!!!)
Total: 30

Jaleel and Kym 1-800-868-12

Jaleel calls this dance, "The Vietnamese Waltz" as opposed to Viennese Waltz.  It was funny.  Another funny was position of hands.  He claimed to be keeping frame, but she wasn't so sure.   It was pretty good, but I was  not lost in them.
Len said he liked it but not enough to be kind. He said there was no footwork.
Bruno says as far as content goes, he couldn't ask for more, but that it needed details.
Carrie Ann liked the story telling, but said to watch the hands(meaning the flow of the lines.)
Scores:
Carrie Ann: 8
Len: 8
Bruno: 8
Total:  24

Next up is team dances. I was surprised they didn't wait one more week to do this when the teams would be evenly matched.  Team Tango has 4 couples, and Team Paso has three.

Team Tango
Jaleel and Kym, Maria and Derek, Katherine andMark, Roshon and Chelsie.
I liked there dance.  I think it would be hard to pull this off in any group, and the larger it is the more difficult.  They did a great job.

Len said  Maria and Roshon were the stand out couple, but overall the dance was "Good, bad and ugly."
Bruno disagrees calling it outstanding choreography, and an excellent team.
Carrie Ann said it was incredible, tight and in sync.
Scores:
Carrie Ann:  10
Len: 8
Bruno: 9
Total: 27

Team Paso
William and Cheryl, Melissa and Maks, and Donald and Peta
I think they had the advantage by having one less couple on their team.  Their dance was intense and fury filled.

Bruno said it had more macho power than the Avengers!
Carrie Ann said it was ridiculously fun.  Ummm...not how I would describe it, but okay.
Len said it was hot in performance, cool in the execution.
Scores:
Carrie Ann: 9
Len: 8
Bruno: 9
Total: 26
The Ballroom erupts in boos and Team Paso revs them up to boo more!

In the bottom two was Jaleel and Kym and Roshon and Chelsie.  After the dance duel, The judges unanimously named Roshon and Chelsie the winning couple.

We are going to miss Jaleel and his smooth (so not Urkel) persona!

I'm probably going to get yelled at for this but truthfully I think Melissa & Maks should have gone home. She's constantly the bottom scorer. I know it's the fans keeping her, but this week we lost a smooth dancer because her fans kept her.

And I hate to say that because we're now down to the best of the best I believe.

And how cool was it that Karina & Louis danced to Gavin's song...

It gets hard at the end when there are just good ones left. AI is down to the top 5 and I like them all- definitely a few better than others but like them all.

Another great recap
