DWTS--Story Time

It's story time.  This week each of the celebrities will tell of time in their lives that was of great significance to them and put it to music and dance it out.  Sounds simple right?  It's always an emotional night.

 Rob and Cheryl 1-800-868-3402

Tonight Rob is honoring his father who died in 2003 of esophageal cancer.  I saw a different side of Rob as he spoke of his father.  If he could be more like this guy, I might grow to like him.  Their dance is the Foxtrot to the tune of "Fly Me To The Moon"  He is improving, and it was indeed a sweet tribute, but he just doesn't have IT.

Len told him that he put the "dash" into Kardashian. He said his  footwork was good , his  holds were good and that he hoped his dad  was looking down, and saying you did good cause he did good! (better...improved)  Bruno said that Rob the man is getting the upper hand and that the dancing kind of reminded him of Guys and Dolls.
Carrie Ann said she likes watching him because he sticks to the program.  He makes progress. And he is charming and smooth.

Len: 8
Bruno: 8
Total: 24 (Wow these are very generous in my opinion!)

Chynna and Tony 1-800-868-3404

Remembering her own song, "Hold On," and  dealing with her abandonment by her father, Chynna relives some painful and healing moments in her Rumba.  Her dance was way better as far as making a connection.  It was a beautiful dance.
Bruno told her,  "I knew you could do it!" He called her a smoldering siren and said she belonged in a museum.
Carrie Ann said "We asked you to give us more and you gave us more!" She called her stunning and said she was connected to the story.
Len told her if she holds on to dancing like that she will be here for weeks!  "You have taken this competition to a whole new level."
CA: 8
Len: 9
Bruno: 9
Total:  26 ( Now these scores make sense!)

Chaz and Lacey 1-800-868-3412

Chaz  chose a song written by his father, Sonny Bono about being different.  It was also meant a tribute of sorts. The dance, The Rumba.   So far, I haven't really had an issue with Chaz.  But this time, this dance...this up close and personal dance...nope couldn't wrap my brain around it.  I couldn't be cool and hip about it.  It just wasn't sitting right.

Carrie Ann commended him for his courage, but said tonight he was not at his best. Saying he didn't dance enough.  (True that!  Lacey totally danced around him!)
Len acted affronted when he asked, "Not doing enough?  That was your best dance!"(Did someone slip Len funny water???)  He went on to say that  depsite negative feedback, he comes back each week stronger!
Bruno said that the Rumba is very difficult and requires continuous movement.  He said that sometimes Chaz looked lost.  (At least HE--Bruno--was actually watching!)

Kristin and Mark 1-800-868-3403

Kristin looked back on 2005 when she came to L.A. to decide whether she was going to go to school or become an actress.  Their dance was the Samba.  I thought it was fun and sassy.  She got my vote.

Len said  that  the parts that were "Beyonce" were not his cup of tea-- ( he got boos for that) "talk to the hand!" He did add that was only 20% of the dance but that the other 80 was fabulous.  By now Tom (Bergeron) was wondering what on earth has happened to the real Len.  Len just defended that he was in a good mood.  I still say someone gave him funny water.

Bruno said she was a fast moving devil woman all the time all the way!
Carrie Ann said comparing her to Beyonce means she has some pretty big shoes to fill. "You did pretty darn good!  Keep it up!"

Scores:
CA:  8
Len: 8
Bruno: 8
Total: 24

Carson and Anna 1-800-868-3409

Carson  goes back to  2003 when his show Queer Eye For The Straight Guy came out. He said the show was a blessing  making him feel proud and comfortable of who he is.   He is such a joy to watch.  He's improving too.

Bruno called him insanely brilliant.
Carrie Ann said, "Carson I love you!" She said he brought drama, enthusiasm and sexiness! (wellll....2 out of 3)

Len said that he put the boy in flamboyant! "You got the technechiuqe, the attitude and I enjoyed it very much!"  (Dang, he really IS in a good mood!)

Scores:
CA:   8
Len: 7
Bruno: 8
Total: 23

JR and Karina 1-800-868-3410

JR  is our veteran war hero turned actor.  He was driving a Humvee and it  went over a landmine. He had burns over 40% of his body. His song is Tim McGraw's "If You're Reading This"  and a  tribute to those who didn't make it home.  Their dance is The Rumba.  He is good.  And I have to say it:  JR and Karina for the win!

Carrie Ann gets carried away on so many levels, but she also wears her heart on her sleeve.  She was moved to tears.  She told him what he did was extraordinary and  profound.
Len said that every season somebody comes along who dances to the standard that is unexpetced and this season "that is you."
Bruno called him a  hero and an inspiration to us all.

Scores:
CA:  9
Len:8 (What happened to happy Len???)
Bruno: 9
Total: 26

Nancy and Tristan 1-800-868-3405

In 2007, when Nancy was pregnant with her twins, one Sunday morning she couldn't breathe. She and her daughter were dying. They preformed an emergency C section to save all three of them and she sang  Moon River to both of the babies.  Those little ones are alive and well.  Her dance and tribute is the Waltz.  It was sweet and I see improvement in her as well.

Len was pleased since there was "no superficial messing about." He advised her to have better posture, and said it was otherwise well  done.
Bruno said it was soft and dreamy like a mother's embrace.
Carrie Ann said it was like watching a live action lullaby and that there was love and tenderness which came through the dance.

Bruno: 7

Rikki and Derek 1-800-868-3411

2010 was the year Rikki Lake learned to "never say never"  she was divorced swearing she would never remarry.  She met and married her husband in 2010. Oh yes, and her house burned down.  She got out with her kids and the clothes on her back.  Her song:    Gravity. Her dance:  Rumba.   It was very good.  But then when Derek is your teacher, it's hard to go wrong.

Bruno said that every step was as expresive as a word in a poem.
Carrie Ann said that Rikki Lake was on fire!  That she was breath taking and gorgeous!
Len congratulated Derek on a great routine and Rikki on dancing it so well.

Scores:
CA:  9
Len: 9

Hope and Maks 1-800-868-3408

Hope remembers the 2011 championship that she didn't win despite doing well. It taught her it's not winning, it's the journey.  Her dance:The Cha Cha.  She's got the moves.  But she is tall and strong.   She needs to be tall and graceful.

Carrie Ann said she is a  really strong dancer  but that she needed to  work on her walk.   "You need fluidity femininity."
Len said that part of routine was a bit provactive for him, but that he still liked it.  "Best dance so far."  (Dude, wait, what!?)
Bruno said that the sexy minx was out of the cage!  He called her a man eater! He also agreed about the the walk.

Scores:
CA:  8
Len: 8
Bruno: 8
Total: 24

David and Kym 1-800-868-3406

David is telling the time of his marriage break up, his drinking and how he over came. The dance: The Rumba.  He did a good job.  He is improving too; a little hesitant perhaps, but definitely trying and improving.  I love that Courtney Cox comes and brings their little one.  She (Courtney) was clearly moved by the performance.

Len told him it had a mix of motion and emotion. "Good job!I'm proud of you!"
Bruno said the dance had sensitivity and vulnerability.
Carrie Ann told him it was a  very nice come back, and he brought  so much more of himself.

Scores:
CA:  8
Len: 8
Bruno: 8

Total: 24  (woohoo!  go David!)

Going home....Kristin and Mark?  What the what???  Even the judges were not happy about that one.  It's about the votes.  And the votes went to the wrong couple this week.  I mean the lowest scoring couple *cough* Chaz and Lacey *cough* got another week.  While Kristin and Mark will dance no more.  So wrong.

Fun recap! Every time I read your dancing posts I think "I need to start watching this!" It's too bad when the wrong people go home, but I guess that's part of the contest.

Seriously, for some reason while reading this I thought Boston Rob from Survivor will be on this show one day.
Think about it. All he does is Survivor for a living, basically. SO, perfect!

I was just sure that Chaz was going home, based on the dances, but Cher is supposed to be in the audience next week so I guess I'm not surprised.

Either way, it was too early for Kristin to go home. I don't particularly like her, but she can dance.

There is always one who sticks along way longer than they should. And I agree with Grumpy Grateful- your revamps totally make me want yo watch it- but then I don't have to as you describe it perfectly :)

It's funny. Chaz doesn't bother me in the slightest. I guess I've known trans-gender people and even worked with them so it's just not an issue to me. Because Alex was in the military for so many years, it still sort of makes him uncomfortable to watch 2 men kiss. That doesn't bother me either. Kid, as long as it doesn't scare the horses...

Well I still can't watch if Chaz is on... LOL :)
