It's Just Stuff

If my head wasn't so impeccably attached to my shoulders, I know I would leave it some where.  And my body would just go on like nothing was different.  Meanwhile there my head would be...rolling its eyes.  I couldn't call my body because I have the ears and mouth.  Also I wouldn't have hands.  Thank goodness we were made so well.

Case and Point...last week we went to the Childrens Museum.  The kids had a blast.  I was busy showing Ryan different musical instruments.  We had sat down together and he was having a ball.  Then he informed he had to go to the bathroom.  Okay let's go.  He likes to go in the "boys" bathroom.  Once that was all taken care of we met up with the rest of the group.  It was then I realized I was about 6 pounds lighter.  My purse was no longer weighing me down.  I immediately started to sweat.  My heart was pounding and I felt like all the oxygen was being sucked out of the room.  I did all the right things...went to the front desk, and then retraced my steps.  Turns out, I had set it down when I was showing Ryan the instruments.  It was wide open.  Everything was in it.  Wallet and all.  After a few sighs of relief and praises to the good Lord for once again watching out for me, we continued with the fun.

By the end of the tour time, I was suffering from a horrible migraine.  I trudged around the store section with my beggars children.  I could no longer think.  Then I realized my camera was missing!  What the heck!?  I had set it down at a table.  Thankfully my niece saw it and had stowed it into her purse.  So is it any surprise that I left my keys behind at Target today!?  I did.  I set them down to look at some shelving.  I am making plans on making over Emily's room.  Any suggestions are welcome!  Anybrainless, I set my keys down and then went on my merry way!  Please tell me this has happened to you.  Even if it hasn't.

We also went to Wal-Mart today.  Can you believe that they didn't have any decent Easter candy left?  What the heck?  As we were leaving, a young woman approached me....she kind of looked like this...

Let's alter her appearance just slightly.  Make her hair jet black.  You know that beautiful shade that can not be reproduced?  Yeah like that.  Pulled back into a neat ponytail.  Make up looking fresh.  Nice jewelry and cute shoes.  An overall put together young lady.  She had a sign...with poor grammar and spelling.  I really don't know exactly what it said.  But basically it was asking for money because she was homeless.  Okay...I get it.  I am not supposed to judge a book by its cover.  But that cover was pretty fancy looking.  I mean what do I know.  Maybe she has just lost her home and her job.  And maybe she is scared out of her mind.  But my cynical meaner older self just shakes her head (still attached) and says:  If you're going to work it...you need to work it.  Look the part.

I know I am judging someone I don't know anything about.  Like this lady in this picture.  If you saw her in real life, what thoughts would go through your head?  If you saw that younger woman with that sign would you jump to the conclusion that she was pulling a scam?

It's just stuff.  What stuff have you got going on?  Is your head still attached?

Ha! You and my mother are so much alike! She loses her keys all the time. We have found them in the fridge, in the dryer (she put them there when taking the clothes out), Once she lost them, couldn't find them at all, and then the snow melted and they were on the grass. People like that (you and her) are watched over extra I think. So your stuff isn't taken. She also loses her purse about every other week. :)

It is hard to decipher if someone is actually scamming or really in need. I used to keep a box of granola bars in my car and since I didn't have a lot of money to give, I would give a granola bar. It was a little bit of help, and if they were really homeless, they would be grateful. If they were scammers, no one was scammed. That was my way of helping and not feeling guilty.

I always am torn when it comes to helping people. But in church a few weeks ago someone said that it is not up to us to judge if they truly need help but just to serve...and so while I am keeping that in mind I still find myself torn.

Glad everything was found.

I like what Emmy said...it's so hard for me...I just waffle back and forth.
And, girl, I leave my keys in my own dang front door all the time. LOL

I walked off and left my keys on the counter at McD's once... my friends were with me and knew that I had a John Deere tractor on my keys so they picked them up for me :)

I'm always super paranoid about my keys. They have my only key to my car on them so if I lose them I'm screwed. I basically have them in my hand or in eye's sight at ALL times. Even right now they sit on my desk here at work instead of in my purse where they should be.

I have however left my purse at WalMart once, in a shopping cart to be exact. I was almost home when I realized I didn't have it, drove all the way back to not find it in the cart, my heart sank. Thankfully a kind soul turned it in at the Customer Service desk, which is really not something I expected from a WalMart customer (isn't that a terrible thing to say??).

In general, I hate that sinking feeling you get when you realize you can't find something important/expensive!

Oh, I've locked my housekey in the house at least three times since moving here. After the second time I got an extra spare and one of those "hide-a-key" boxes. I still double check my keys whenever I leave the house now.
