DWTS Rocks the Ballroom

This week DWTS is going to rock the ballroom!  Complete with pyrotechnics.  There will also be a dance marathon.  I feel sorry for the couple who dances last!!
This week their dances are The Tango and The Paso Doble.  Interesting fit don't you think?

Audrina Patridge and Tony Dovolani 1-800-868-3401

Audrina and Tony are dancing The Paso Doble this week.  This is a very aggressive dance.  Last week, Bruno told Audrina to be "fantastic" not "plastic."  So, in order to pump up some of that "rage," Tony treated her to a boxing lesson in which she was beating up on "Bruno."  Actually it was his face on a dummy.  She was ready to go!!!  Their song, I felt was all too appropriate:  Another One Bites the Dust.  Sadly, that is what happened to her aggressive attitude.  She had the face, but mostly I felt it was too nice. Len said, "To be honest you're getting on my nerves!"  He explained that while she certainly has technique the dance continues to lack character. Bruno concurred that Len was right. And he encouraged her to move it to the next stage! Carrie Ann told her that her improvement since week one is truly impressive, but that she was lacking the intention.  "Master that, and watch out!"

Scores:
Carrie Ann: 8
Len: 8
Bruno:8
Total: 24

Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer 1-800-868-3403

Kyle and Lacey are dancing The Tango. Kyle did not do well last week, so he was even practicing at home.  No, he didn't get to take Lacey home--much to his disappointment I am sure, however his brother happily filled in and danced with his brother wearing a girlie shirt.  It was a bit disturbing.  Disturbing or not, Kyle's hard work paid off.  He was worlds better than the week  before.  I was impressed.
Bruno told him his footwork was so much better. He also praised him for doing better with his "holds." Carrie Ann said she loves the way he threw in the "Kyle Style." A little bit out of control she noted, but otherwise very well done.  Len said, "I'm not gonna sack you, I'm gonna back you!" He told him his dances are performance driven and that he would like to see more balance.  But overall well done!

Scores:
Carrie Ann:  8
Len: 7
Bruno: 8
Total: 23
Kyle shouts, "That feels AMAZING!"  This is his highest score so far!

Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough 1-800-868-3411

Jennifer and Derek have the Paso Doble.  She is ready to go.  Almost too much.  Derek is such a sweet kid, and he does not want to injure Jennifer.  She has screws in her neck.  Really he needs to trust her to tell him where the limit is.  That being said, I enjoyed their Paso, but Jennifer was a wild woman.  She took that aggression and ran with it.  Almost literally.  Carrie Ann told her to calm down that she was way out of control, causing the dance to become disjointed. She warned that Jennifer is going down hill.  *No!  She can't!  Vote! Vote!* Len told her dancing is about balancing. "You got the the attack the aggression and the attitude. But you lost control."Bruno told her she got the rage right...that she looked like a woman on the edge of a nervous break down. He told her to tone down a little.

Scores:
Carrie Ann: 6 --whoah Carrie Ann!  A six?  Was it really that bad!?
Len: 7
Bruno: 7
total: 20  Probably their lowest score.

Rick Fox and Cheryl Burke 1-800-868-3404

Rick and Cheryl are dancing The Tango. For Rick, this means work on his frame and his posture.  Rick analyzes every single step.  Cheryl, tells him he can't pick the dance apart like that.  He just has to feel it.  That is not an easy thing to grasp.  Maybe if she told him to think of how he feels about basketball.  Okay, first of all, Rick is like ten feet tall.  Okay he is more like six foot eight.  And Cheryl is five foot four.   So the height issue is always a challenge for them.  Usually they pull it off.  Tonight they managed it again.  But I'm sorry.  He looked like a big scary robot.  And the silver only emphasized that!  And at the end of the dance, he dipped Cheryl up and down really fast three or four times.  I am quite certain she will have whiplash.

Len said he was impressed with his hold and posture. He pointed out that it is a difficult dance and despite the height difference it was very well done.  Bruno said he looked a Mohican on the war path!  He was worried about whether he might scalp Cheryl or the very least cause her some whiplash.  Thank you Bruno! He said it needed a little more romance and to be a little less scary.  Carrie Ann told him he did amazing. (Of she said that!) She said that he balanced it perfect. And then she warned him to be careful, "you get so stern we lose "Rick" the person."

Scores:
Carrie Ann:  8
Len: 8
Bruno: 8
Total: 24

Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas 1-800-868-3407

Bristol and Mark are dancing The Tango.  After last weeks dismal performance in gorilla suits they really couldn't do any worse.  And I was right about the costume throwing her off.  She said she forgot everything.  Well she worked hard this past week and her efforts shined through.  What a nice comeback!  Bruno said she was all woman tonight and this dance balanced both performance and and technique.  Carrie Ann said it was ridiculously amazing.  And Len said she is almost a champ.

Scores:Carrie Ann:  8
Len: 7
Bruno: 8
Total: 23

Kurt Warner and Anna Trebunskaya 1-800-868-3408

Kurt and Anna are dancing The Paso Doble.  And with the theme being Rock N Roll Anna brought in Brett Michaels to teach him the real attitude of rock.  I thought they did all right.  Not as good as last week.  But good.  At the end, Kurt dragged Anna across the stage to the judges table.  It was quite amusing. Carrie Ann said the dance was scruffy and that it lacked polish.  She said it didn't come together. Len said he felt awkward watching it. Bruno told him he looked like he was doing karate.  "You looked like Jackie Chan.  We want Banderas."

Scores:
Carrie Ann:  6
Len: 6
Bruno: 6
Scores: 18

Brandy and Maks Chmerkovskiy 1-800-868-3406

Brandy and Maks are dancing The Tango.  Brandy is extremely emotional and stressed.  All of which, she puts on herself.  Despite that she does very well in rehearsal.  And on the dance floor even better.  Len exclaimed that Maks was his hero, and that it was THE dance of the night.  Bruno said that their Tango really rocked.  Carrie Ann said she had goose bumps and that the the dance was very impressive even with the tiny missteps.

Scores:
Carrie Ann:  8
Len: 9
Bruno: 9
Total: 26

Next is The Dance Marathon:  The Swing, Jive, and Lindy Hop.  Lifts are legal.

This is where I am glad I am not a judge.  To have them all dancing at once and having to single them out one by one until only one couple remained would be an impossible--for me--task.  But they still managed to do it.  From first eliminated to the last couple standing...dancing...

Kurt and Anna 4points for a total of  22
Bristol and Mark 5 points for a total of 28
Rick And Cheryl 6 points for a total of 30
Kyle and Lacey 7 points for a total of 30
Audrina and Tony 8 points for a total of 32
Jennifer and Derek 9 points for a total of  29
Brandy and Maks 10 points for a total of 36

Couple Going Home:  Audrina and Tony.  It came down to them and Jennifer and Derek.  Scroll back up and write their number down.

There always is one of the better couples that gets cut at this point.

I think America got it wrong this week! Audrina shouldn't have gone home... I'm not sure who should have but not her! And my opinion... for what it matters :)... Brandy & Max shouldn't have won the dance off. They hardly did anything it seemed like except he'd pick her up, move her and they'd start again...

That blew our whole Top 3 theory out of the water, didn't it?

I loved seeing all those dances from prior seasons at the beginning of the show.
I missed it so I love the recap!
I still haven't figure out who those first two "celebrities" are. I do live under a rock, but I'm going to google them now!
