Whose In The Dog House?

Tonight's dances are The Quick Step and The Jive.  These are both very difficult dances to conquer.  And from now on all the stars only have 5 days to learn their dances.

Rick Fox and Cheryl Burke The Jive
1-800-868-3404

Rick Fox has been called many things in his career as a Basketball player.  One such name was "The Tank."  A tank is not light in its movement.  Neither is he.  Unfortunately he sustained a ruptured tendon in his foot during his playing days.  This makes it nearly impossible to dance on your toes and even harder to perform kicks which the Jive has many of.

Okay, I have to be a little unforgiving here.  Cheryl, you look like you just rolled out of bed!  What's with that hair?   Ahem.  Rick, you may have bum foot, but you did a pretty good job.  Let's see what the judges have to say!  Sorry Tom (Bergeron) I am borrowing your lines.

Len told him that his dance was compact fun and that he is a contender.  Bruno began with what a beast this dance is and with him it is like the CA condor trying to dance with a humming bird, and yet..."you did it."  Carrie Ann surprised me when she told him he did better last week and that he is better suited for ballroom.  Her advice to work harder for the Latin Dances.

Florence Henderson and Corky Ballas The Quick Step
1-800-868-3409

Florence Henderson said she doesn't want to be the "old lady" who can't move.  And she doesn't want her age to be factored in.  Well it is.  And she can move.  For a 76 year old she can hold her own.  And this lady is in it to win it.  Personally I thought their quick step was lovely.  Bruno told her how he loved her Grand Dame entrance, but that at times it looked more like 'Driving Miss Daisy.'  Still hesitant, but lovely at times.  Carrie Ann told her that like it or not her age is a factor especially since she is so amazing.  Len told her that her age has no bearing on how he feels.  He judges the dancing on how he sees it.  Then he simply said, "See ya next week!"  (but you have to vote too!)

Carrie Ann:  7
Len: 6
Bruno: 6

Brandy and Maks The Jive
1-800-868-3406

Maks is a fierce teacher, and because of this fierceness he comes off as cantankerous.  And Brandy...well Brandy told him...well it was censored so I don't know what she told him.  But he said, "That wasn't necessary."  Despite their head butting, they get through.  I wasn't overly impressed with her jive.  She seemed to be doing it carefully.  Almost delicately.  And the jive is anything but delicate!  Carrie Ann said her energy was a little out of control.  Len told her last week she took a huge step forward and this week a slight step back.  He went on to say she lacked intent and seemed brittle.  And Bruno told her she resembled a Gwen Stefani back up dancer.   The Situation:  Mus-a- what?

Michael Bolton and Chelsie Hightower  The Jive

Oh Michael Bolton how is it that you are a singer when you have not an ounce of musicality in your entire body! They danced--well she danced--to Hound Dog.  They created a huge dog house on the bandstand for Michael to crawl out of in the hopes he would loosen up.  It didn't work.  Len would agree, "I don't think the world is ready for your interpretation of the Jive."  Bruno told him that he is a dog lover, but that he was making it very hard for him to love dogs.  He added that he should have crawled back in.  It was the worst jive ever in eleven seasons.  Really, Bruno?  Two words:  Kate Gosselin!  Carrie Ann being ever kind told him she respected him for he did but that when he gets nervous his entire body locks up.

Scores:

Carrie Ann:  4

Len: 5
Bruno 3  (OUCH!)  Also the lowest score ever given!
Total 12 If he doesn't go home this week it will only be because he is paying people to vote for him.

Adrina Patridge and Tony Dovolani The Quick Step
1-800-868-3401
This week the mini melt down came from Adrina.  Yeah she was on a reality show, but not a show with such a demanding schedule.  She recovered pretty quick and got back to business.  I thought she did pretty good.  Bruno was all excited and showed a little more of his vibrant self when he told her the show pony is turning into The Secretariat. He noted a few things went wrong, but that it was an otherwise promising performance.  Carrie Ann said it was a huge improvement. And Len thought it was the best dance all night. Well after Michael Bolton's dance, that would be easy.  Side note:  Tony Dovolani promised he would shave his legs if they didn't score at least 24....

Will he????  I can't wait to find out!!!!  He showed his legs.  Pretty hairy!
Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough The Jive
1-800-868-3411

Jennifer Grey is a cancer survivor.  What the what!?  Did anyone know this???  She has screws and rods in her back and neck.  She went to the doctor to be cleared for the physical undertaking that DWTS is.  Derek wanted to create a dance that "wouldn't kill Jennifer."  She really struggled, physically, with this one in rehearsals, but on the dance floor.  WOW!  You would not know it.  She rocked it.
Carrie Ann told her she was like a hot sexy energizer bunny.  Len told her there was nothing "grey" about her performance and Bruno told her it was a killer jive.  That she nailed it.  "wicked."

Margaret Cho and Louis Van Amstel The Jive
1-800-868-3405

Maragret Cho had an epiphany.  She decided she wants to dance and not hide behind the comedy.  She did all right.  Of course she followed Jennifer Grey and that was a lot to live up to.  Len told her it was "proper jive."  Bruno told her to work on her precision and to keep sharp.  Carrie Ann warned her to watch her shoulders and her facial expressions, that at times she can be a bit "over the top."

Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer The Quick Step
1-800-868-3403

Kyle made a deal of sorts with Lacey that he would lighten up on his taste for fast food.  Well let's just say, he is not keeping his end of the bargain.    But Lacey is working him pretty hard.  He couldn't grasp the concept of The Quick Step so she taught him with hip hop moves and it clicked.  Once on the dance floor he was putting on the charms.  And his dancing was pretty good too.  Bruno told him as performer he was a powerhouse, but in ballroom dancing he needed to exercise more control and work on his technique.  Carrie Ann regressing back into her teenaged self said, "Welcome to the new school of the Quick Step!"  Len told him it was hardly a classic Quick Step, and that most of time he looked like he was engulfed in a feather duster.  He went on to say that he was flatfooted and it lacked in style...but...he liked it!

Kurt Warner and Anna Trebunskaya  The Jive
1-800-868-3408

Week two and Kurt has shown growth.  And that is what DWTS is about.  Growth.  Carrie Ann said she loved it and that he reminded her of that uncle everyone has who has a little too much at the wedding and breaks it loose.  Len said he went from an outhouse to a penthouse! And Bruno said that despite the fact that Kurt has hands the size of frying pans he had fantastic fluidity.

The Situation and Karina Schmirnoff The Quick Step

The Situation has no clue what the music genre is for their Quick Step.  The Situation is...he is completely uncoordinated.  He was at least three beats behind her throughout.  Pigeon toed...not that that has any thing to do with it.  Len told him it was a series of unfortunate events.  He followed up with the dance was a tough one and that he did do better this week.  Did he Len, did he really?  Bruno noted that he could see how badly he wanted to do it well.  He told him he needs to find his balance.  Carrie Ann told him he needs to work on his musicality.

Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas 1-800-868-3407

I don't care whose daughter she is.  If you don't like her because of where she comes from, well that is just silly.  I am pleasantly surprised with her.  She is not a performer at all.  She is the daughter of a governor...of ALASKA!  And well, she works all that much harder and it shows.  Mama Palin is...well....Bristol is a nice surprise!  Bruno told her that she has a fresh non show biz quality about her.  He told her the dancing is there, now she needs to bring out the performer.  Carrie Ann gave her a very sweet and genuine compliment when she described her as Kelly Osborne when she was on.  Len said that she's not quite there yet and that he wants her to come out stronger.

Week Two Elimination:  Michael Bolton

The judges were MUCH too harsh on Michael Bolten and much too generous with Bristol "The Teen Advocate" (as if!) Palin. The Situation is way out of his league.

Ummm. I don't watch this, but your updates just might suck me in. Or maybe it could be because of the cast this year. Jennifer Grey, Kurt Warner, Bristol Palin, Florence Henderson? Wow!!

I'm actually kind of surprised that Brandy can't dance.
