Red Shoes

Since the alphabet is over, now we are visiting the colors of the rainbow!  If you want to know more about it, go ahead and click on Miss Jenny's button there.

I was born with flat feet.  No, I haven't started the truth and lies yet...that is part 2 of this post.  I really was born with flat feet.  I had to wear the most butt ugly white corrective shoes on the planet.  I had planned to scan a picture of me wearing them, but I never got the original from my mom(totally my fault since I never even asked!) I was very little age 3 to 5 at most--though my mom says I may have been as young as one.  I  wore them for two years.  Two very long years.  Looking back, I am amazed at how I remember this.  The only thing I really remember about them is how ugly I thought they were.  I don't remember how they felt.  Just that they were UGLY!  All I wanted was pretty shoes like my sister.  I wanted red shoes.  Definitely not white.  No way!  And black would be boring.  No they had to be red.

I don't really remember that magic day.  The day the ugly shoes came off.  But my mom held true to her promise to a little girl who wanted nothing more than a pretty pair of red Mary Janes.  I can remember red shoes, but I wasn't able to recall the style.  I had to ask mom about that.  Maybe that is why I am drawn to the color red. It has a wonderful memory attached to it!

Now let's get our lie on!
truthsandlies
Let's review:
1.  I was the center of attention at a cast party:  True.   Where to begin with this?  I had my wisdom teeth out about 6 weeks prior.  Everything that could go bad did.  I could only DRINK my meals...shakes!  Yum.  I lost 25 pounds and was looking good!  Fast forward.  Went to a community play with my on/off boyfriend to see our drama teacher perform.  Well since half the drama class was part of the play, it made sense to invite his pet(me) to the cast party.  I had dyed my hair red.  It turned a lovely auburn shade.  Really looked good.  I wore jeans and a black shirt.  At the party, I had my date, the teacher, and three other guys from school all perched around little old me.  And yes, I ate every moment of that up!!!

2.  I have been toilet papering.  True.  And more than once.  On one such occasion I was at Girl's Camp where we TP'd one of the Junior Counselor's to her bed, as well as her mother.  Funny thing, daughter had natural nails that we would die for.  Her claws came up through that paper in her sleep and it scared us to death.

3.  I played spin the bottle.  False.  Nope.  Never did.

And now....

1.  I didn't get my license until I was 21.
2.  I failed the driver's test three times.
3.  I have never got a ticket.

Now I see where your love of shoes stemmed from! haha. Trying to supress that horrible memory!
My poor kids have flat feet too but no corrective shoes. I think that should have been done though!
Glad you got your pretty, red Mary Jane's - every girl should have pretty shoes!

Nice button! I will have to participate next week. Um I am guessing the three times is a lie? Not sure about this one.

Glad you were able to get your red shoes :)

Oh poo, I guessed wrong on the truths and lies part.

I completely adore your red shoe memory. I can only imagine how special that first non-white pair of shoes was to you. Loved this look back.

I love red shoes. I remember having a pair when I first started teaching. They were a great way to brighten a drab teacher outfit. I am so glad you got your shoes.

This is a great post. Red is a great color, and red shoes are sexy. ;)

As for your lie, hmmmm.......I'm saying #3 is your lie.

I had to wear corrective shoes, too. For a while I had to wear the ones with a bar between them that connected. It was awful!

I think that is sweet that your mom bought you your little red shoes. I can't believe that your counselor and her mom slept through being tp'd! I think #3 is the lie.

Some might say I have a shoe obsession, but you helped me realize that I don't have a single red pair. I enjoyed the 2 truths and a lie. I'm sorry you missed out on spin the bottle. It beat Truth or Dare, hands down.

I KNEW you were too young to play spin the bottle!

I loved this story of the red shoes. Really, that would make a wonderful short story for a magazine.

This was such a creative stop on our little journey through Alphabe-Thursday's summer school.

Thank you for sharing this poignant story with us.

A+
