Why Are You Smiling?

At the end of each month, Emmy at Emmy Mom--One Day at a time answers this very question with ten simple answers.  She doesn't list things that are on the grand scale--like winning the lottery.  She lists things like warm weather, flowers, and being able to clear a clogged drain.

Now Emmy is asking us to play along with her.  Well, some of my happiness are big things, but I can't help it.

1.  A new dishwasher.  After 4 months of dishpan hands, this is a most awesome treat and definitely is something to smile about.

2.  A new laptop.  My poor machine.  It was 4 + years old, missing keys, some keys simply didn't work, took it about 5-10 minutes to completely boot up.  No joke, I could eat breakfast while it warmed up.  So a brand new laptop sure is something to smile about

3.  A haircut for me.   I love it when I get a haircut.  We don't get those very often do we?

4.  White Diamonds perfume.  It's one of my favorites for two reasons:  it reminds me of my Grandmother and I happen to like the fragrance.

5.  Blog Awards!  I admit it.  I love it when I get them.  And yes they make me smile.

6.  Funny things my kids say to me.  Just the other day, Ryan informed me that "dudes do not like pink." and "4 year olds, don't like macaroni and cheese."

7.  I am not sure how I feel about this one, but...my daughter went to the mall during spring break with a friend from church.  Just them on their own.  It means she is growing up.  I am giving her wings so she can fly.  It makes me smile, but with a few tears.

8.  Successfully losing weight. And still going strong.

9.  Seeing my little middle do her very best each and every day.

10.    Finding and  learning recipes that are low in fat and calories and still taste super yummy.

What makes you smile?

LOL I love the picture of the princesses! hehe. my little cousin loves those and we were playing once and I was like - this one has narcolepsy, and this one has a horrible mil, and this one married an oger:)

I love my moms perfume, she used to wear it more. I think it was vanilla bean, its not like a really expensive kind or anything, but whenever I smell that it makes me happy!

I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU that you got a dishwasher! you absolutely deserve one and you will love it! (your hands will love it too:))

Oh no, what am I going to feed Ryan for lunch now if he doesn't like mac and cheese? :)

and yeah for new dishwashers and computers!! Especially the dishwasher, I think I would have been insane after two weeks, let alone 4 months.
thanks for linking up :)

Appliances make us happy - I agree! And haircuts always make me feel more polished, even when I am using those household appliances.
Come to think of it, I need to get a cut, like now!

Hehehe..."dudes do not like pink"...that's classic! And I couldn't agree more, I love a fresh haircut, especially with new toenail polish.

That is an awesome picture! I was getting so tired of the Disney princesses!

I like new appliances too. I'm sure my hubby would love a new laptop, but, sorry honey! You get a new lawnmower :)

Your list made me smile! Tell Ryan that only cool dudes wear pink! Ask my 13 yr old!

I am so loving that picture. Going to the mall on their own is such a huge milestone! That's exciting. I loved your sons comment that "dudes do not like pink". That made me crack up.

Congrats on all those things on your list! It's a pretty good one. :)

Right now I'm happy to be sleeping in my own comfy bed and wearing comfy tennis shoes every day. (My feet still hurt from the vacay dress shoes and the motel bed was hard as a rock.)

What a great list- I definitely hear you on the haircut and laptop. My laptop died a couple of months ago and it was a rough transition, but now I have this awesome fast new Dell which I love and my hubs just cut my hair for me yesterday, yay!

Thanks for coming to visit me- don't you just love this Meme of Emmy's?

Yea, yea yea for you! You know, it's not the lottery, but honestly to me, all of your things are almost just as good!

Love your list:) Makes you reflect on all the things we have that are truly bigger than any lottery:)

Couple of millions might add a little bit more joy:)

Can we get that princess picture on a T-shirt so I can wear it to Disneyland? The mall alone...that was my favorite thing to do when I was younger (it is now too...for different reasons). My kids singing and snuggling with each melts my heart no matter what is going on.
