Who Am I?

I have been thinking about this a lot lately. Who I am and who I aspire to be...let's get the obvious out of the way.  Wife.  Mother.  Yes, yes...I am those things.  I am proud to be those things.  I would not be a mother of three of the most beautiful, intelligent, ridiculous, fun beings I have the pleasure of knowing if it weren't for being a wife.  This is part of who I am.  I would not have children without a partner.  Why?  Because I am a Christian.  Yep.  I am.  Not only am I a Christian, but get this, I am a member of The Church of Jesus of Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Yep.  I am very  slightly unconventional at times with my love for all things geeky, but I stand by my morals, and everything I am taught.

I am taught this:  to love my neighbor (yeah even the ones who wrong me...that's hard!)  But I am also taught to love everyone.  Everyone.  Guess what?  I do love all people.  Their race, religion, gender are not a deciding factor for me.  Lifestyle?  What was it that Jesus taught?  Love the sinner, not the sin.  Here's the thing.  I'm a sinner.  Yep.  I am still working on that one.  I don't drink, smoke, gamble, cheat, beat my kids but I still sin.  My sin is not your sin.  If didn't sin at all, well I wouldn't be here.

I am also an American.  Yep.  I am a free speech, right to bare arms, American.  I don't care about race...nobody should.  The day it doesn't matter will be the day any and all forms leave race off the forms.  If it truly doesn't matter, then why have it there.

I am a woman.  I am not better than a man, nor do I need one to complete me.  I am strong and capable.  No, I do not know how to change a flat tire or change my oil, but I can call for help on my phone.  This does not make me weak.  It makes me resourceful and smart.  I don't know how to sew.  Don't assume because I am female I know this talent.  I am also tall, that doesn't mean I play basketball.  By the way, I do not.  In fact, I am quite terrible at the sport.  I play softball.

I am blonde.  Blondes are not always dumb.  That comes from Marliyn Monroe depicting blondes as mindless.  She was actually a shark, and a brunette.  I am smart, ornery, and I can tell blonde jokes with the best of them.  "What do you do when a blonde throws a grenade at you?"  "You pull the pin and throw it back!"

I am in school earning my Bachelor's in Humanities for English.  As I approach the end of my second year, I am considering the Master's Program.  I find this school stuff both complex and exciting.  I like the challange, and I have enjoyed improving myself.

This is who I am:  A woman, mother, wife.  American, Christian, Latter-day Saint, and Geek-galore!

I am linking up with Shell today for Pour Your Heart Out.

I like this description of you. :)

There's so much I can't do- and I don't consider it a weakness, either. I figure that there's no one who can do it all, so why not ask for help and maybe I can help someone with something they can't do.

I love this! Such a great post and makes you realize how much we (at least some of our population) sterotype every single thing about a person!
