DWTS Week 2--Better Late Than Never

I really like that they have started giving all the dancers an extra week to dance.  One week just isn't enough to show if you can do it. Last week was totally amazing and the scores blew me away. This week, however, had more beginners scores.

Roshon and Chelsie 1-800-868-3405

This week Roshon can not rely on his Hip Hop dancing skills.  It's ballroom only.  The Quick Step.  I actually think this quick paced dance worked well with his skills.  He had some pretty fancy foot work.

Len told him to look at his face, "I liked it! It was young and fresh!"
Bruno said that he had more start than a bolt of lightening.
Carrie Ann told him she was a little worried about him this week, but she said he turned his swagger into technique and sophistication.
Scores:
CA:  9
Len: 8
Bruno: 9
Total: 26

Sherri and Val 1-800-868-3406
The Jive.    Sherri wishes she was 20 pounds lighter for this dance.  She  backed out of on the move of going under between his legs--said she was afraid of her face getting stuck in his butt.  She covered it great and just moved right into the next part of the dance.

Bruno told her she had shake rake rattle and roll that would make Tina proud!  "You missed a part, but I don't care.  I loved it."
Carrie Ann said, "I am in love with you!" She said the routine was phenomenal despite getting a little disconnected.
Len said "You felt good, the audience  felt good, and I felt good.  I loved what you did."
Scores:
CA:  8
Len: 7
Bruno: 8
Total: 23

Melissa and Maks 1-800-868-3407

Melissa said that doing Dancing with the Stars is "more difficult than childbirth."  Having only done one of them I can't verify. Their Quick Step was very good.

Carrie Ann said there was a tiny little slip(really?  I didn't see it)  and that it actually loosened her up.  Hmmm....interesting.
Len told her it started off well, but that she lost her energy and her posture went away; then it got a tad hectic.  (Did he watch the same dance?)
Bruno said that when she relaxes her lines are longer and more fluid.  "You coped very well with very difficult dance."
Scores:
Carrie Ann:  7
Len: 6
Bruno: 7
Total: 20

Jack and Anna 1-800-868-3402
Jack says he likes it when Anna gets tough on him because it keeps him serious.  He did good, but I want him to relax and have more fun with it.

Len said it had  content, attitude and energy.  "You attacked the dance, but you lost control."
Bruno told him he couldn't give more if he tried. He said that it was a fast song, and it was hard for Jack to keep the beat.
Carrie Ann told him he is a really good dancer, but that she thought he over danced it. She wants him to "ease into it and have to have fun."
Scores:
CA: 7
Len: 7
Bruno: 7
Total: 21

Gladys and Tristan  1-800-868-3411

Gladys says she has never been nervous...until now.  It's amazing to me, how these celebrities feel so out of place and so uncomfortable.  It really humanizes them for me.  Their dance is the Quick Step and their music is better suited to the Fox Trot.  Who picked this???  It just doesn't work.

Bruno loves her natural feel with music, but warns her to be careful about her frame.  During his critique, even Bruno is calling it a FOX TROT!!!
Carrie Ann says she is very light on her feet and that she has a  great connection with Tristan.  She said it was a little too casual for the quick step.
Len congratulated her on the dance, but said she has to stay in the frame.  "I didn't 100% appreciate the dance tonight."
Scores:
Carrie Ann:  7
Len: 5 (Harsh!)
Bruno: 7
Total: 19

 Katherine and Mark  1-800-868-3410

Katherine is very embarrassed about "shaking her naughty bits" this week for their Jive.  Well she got over it and she did a very good job with a high energy jive.  She is also much calmer this week.

Carrie Ann said she had great leg extension and that the dance was brilliant!
Len knew she could do elegant but he wasn't sure about a full on dance, but after this one he was sure.
Bruno exclaimed, "The Blonde Bombshell is unleashed!  That's how you do flicks.  Take note everyone!"
Scores:
CA:  9
len: 8
Bruno: 9
Total: 26

 Jaleel and Kym 1-800-868-3412

Jaleel has performance in his blood, bones and every other part of his body.  His Jive was somewhat lacking however.  I do think this dance should be reserved for week 5 when they are more conditioned.

Len said the dance lacked attack and speed and that he was a little disappointed.
Bruno told him his performance was great, but he must be sharper in the jive.
Carrie Ann said it was fantastic, but it didn't have the extra sparkle from the previous week.  She also warned him he was a bit flat -footed.
Scores:
CA: 7
Len: 7
Bruno: 8
Total: 22

Maria and Derek 1-800-868-3401

Maria and Derek are dancing The Quick Step and she is doing it with a rib injury.  Her laugh.  It is indescribable! Luckily their Quick Step is...it is high energy and fantastic.

Bruno wondered in amazement where her beautiful and perfect frame came from.  He said she lost a step, but it was still brilliant.
Carrie Ann said That they were strong and solid until the middle and then they picked it back up again.
Len he said wouldn't even bother with the little incident, there was speed and control.
Scores:
Carrie Ann: 8
Len: 8
Bruno: 9
Total: 25

Martina and Tony 1-800-868-3409

Another Jive.  Martina is the true athlete.  She put all her effort into it.  She is a very good sport.  But she was totally relying on Tony for what to do next.  I still say this dance is too much for week two.

Carrie Ann said that she loved the approach but that it was too slow for The Jive.
Len said it was too neat and that she really needed to come out and attack it.
Bruno told her in the moments when she was relaxing she did better.

Scores:
CA:  6
Len: 5
Bruno: 6
Total: 17

Donald and Peta  1-800-868-3403

Donald and Peta have The Quick Step.  He is very light on his feet.  This always surprises me with the football players for some reason.  Especially the bigger ones.

Len said their dance was one of the top dances of the night.
Bruno said they had great lines, and were very elegant.
Carrie Ann told him that all those years of watching DWTS has paid off.

Scores:
CA:8
Len:  8
Bruno: 8
Total: 24

 Gavin and Karina  1-800-868-3404

For The Jive, Gavin said he would stand behind her and look like he was doing something cool while she dazzled.  She didn't go for it.  Gavin said he had never seen anyone's eyes turn red and grow smoke stacks out of their ears.  He danced a good dance, but he needs to get more serious.

Bruno likes Gavin in leather! He says that despite missing kicks and flicks his performance is still good..."especially in leather!"
Carrie Ann wants him to push his boundaries.  She told him his posture was funky, but that he was animated and lively!
Len said he had attitude and energy and that it was a great improvement from last week!

Scores:
CA: 7
Len: 7
Bruno: 7
Total: 21

    William and Cheryl  1-800-868-3408

Cheryl puts William in the dance bar to improve his posture for their Quick Step.  He wanted to know if had to wear it in the shower and when he slept.  Smarty pants!  It was a great dance.  He has excellent rhythm and the same for a teacher.

Carrie Ann said it is not  just about the sexy and heat factor it's about technique. She told him he is  Harry Connick Jr of the ballroom.
Len told him his footwork needed to be cleaner, and that the dance lacked content. "It was good not great."
Bruno said that even fully clothed he has the ability to dazzle.

Scores:
Carrie Ann:  8
Len:  7
Bruno:  9
Total: 25

Going home on week two:  Martina and Tony.

Yes the jive is a very high energy dance, so yea maybe they should wait. Did I tell you Bruno was on an episode of Top Gear? The guys took three cars and converted them to limos and then had to take a celebrity to the emmy's. The car Bruno rode in was convertible made into a limo that was not comfortable inside at all, the seat was way in the back and had to be pulled up to the doors with a rope, it was hilarious.

I couldn't find a video clip but this article talks about it http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/03/21/top-gear-celebs-race-limos-to-emmys-video_n_1369134.html

The gal who went home is the one I thought probably would. I hate to say that though. And I loved the comment Katherine made about learning to shake her naughty bits! ha!
