Parting Is Such Sweet Sorrow

Today was a bittersweet day for my lovely Kristin. She had a fantastic first year in middle school. She made a gaggle of great friends who all love and respect her. She also had an amazing group of teachers who all go the extra mile, not just for her, but for all their students. She was really blessed. And so were we.

One in particular, would be her Drama teacher. Mr. Ryan. He is truly an exceptional teacher. He wasn't just the Drama teacher--which before the school year began, I assured her that Drama teacher's are the best! And he delivered for her.--he also taught these kids the art of debate, script writing, directing, and most of all confidence. Confidence like I have never seen before. In just 9 months time, I watched my daughter absolutely bloom. Yes, I can take credit for that, but I also have to allow her teacher some as well. All of his kids grew. Sadly, he will be moving onto greener pastures. He is going to be the Drama Director at the new high school in our area. He leaves behind him a great void and very big shoes to fill. Kristin is very sad to see her favorite teacher go, but she will be able to take everything she learned from him and keep it with her. She also will have the chance to work with him again before starting high school since the high school and her school will be teaming up for the production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC. What a wonderful opportunity to work with her teacher again.
Mr. Ryan
Appropriately enough, this picture was taken on the night of the play that Kristin was in. A leading role, in her first play ever.
