DWTS: Guilty Pleasures

 Photobucket

Tonight the celebs get to pick their favorite song to dance to.  The song they would never admit that they like.  A guilty pleasure.  Kristin asked me what my "guilty pleasure" song would be.  I didn't have an answer until Hanson was playing Achy Breaky Heart.  Don't judge me.

Kirstie Alley and Maks Chmerkoskiy 1-800-868-3411

Kirstie and Maks are dancing the Samba to Kirstie's shameful favorite, "Hit Me Baby, One More Time."  She wants  9's this time and will settle for nothing less.  This season Maks is much tamer than I think I have ever seen him.  Perhaps it is Kirstie.  She knows how to control him.  Whatever it is, when she was feeling the pressure during the rehearsal, he just sat with her and talked with her.  It was a side of Maks I have not seen.  So how was the dance?  It was good.  She delivers each week.  Go Kirstie Go!

Len agrees with me. He said she has never fufilled the potential he saw in week one.. until today.  "Great job."

"Oh yes!  Hit Me, Kirstie! One more time.  You were just doing it.  Your wiggly bunm sent shock waves through the airwaves!!"  Bruno, you always make me roar giggle.

Carrie Ann said she commanded the dance floor week one. and now she was back.  "I want to see you in the finals!!!"

Scores:
Carrie Ann:  8 (Give her a higher score if you want to see her in the finals!)
Len: 9
Bruno: 9
Total: 26

Chris Jericho and Cheryl Burke 1-800-868-3409

Chris Jericho and Cheryl Burke get The Tango this week. And Chris' guilty pleasure is nothing to be guilty about. "Don't Stop Believin'." I remember that song.  Ah, it takes me back!  We learn this week--or rather I did--that Chris is in a rock band. A rock band that has toured the world ten times!   Their dance was not a wower.  But I still like him.  He has a lot of charisma and I know he can actually dance.

Bruno expressed his disappointment by telling him that he "turned into a lump of granite."  Ouch.  That one hurt. He added that it was cold and uneventful.  Bruno, I am not laughing.

Carrie Ann told him what I was thinking, "So harsh!" Yes, yes it was.  She said that on some levels she agreed, telling him that the pressure got to him. She added that the dance was technically sound.

Len said, "I don't think their (Chris and Cheryl) having an off night.  I think  they (gesturing to Carrie Ann and Bruno) are!"  He said the dance lacked a bit of intensity, but over all it was an excellent job.

Scores:
Carrie Ann: 7
Len: 8
Bruno: 7
Total: 22
Romeo and Chelsie Hightower 1-800-868-3405
Romeo and Chelsie Hightower are dancing The Waltz.  Romeo's guilty pleasure surprised me.  Remember yesterday I talked about not judging a book by its cover?  Yeah.  His guilty pleasure, "My Heart Will Go On." He recalled seeing the movie when he was eight.  A bit young for that movie.  I digress.  It had a real impact on him.  And the dance?  Well Mr. Arrogant did really well.  Could he be growing as a person?

Carrie Ann said that every once in a while in a season magic happens.  "That was magical."

Len said that despite needing a stronger frame that he danced with great maturity and that it was a very touching performance.

Bruno told him that his ship would sail on and and on.  "I could see the love story unfolding."

Scores:
Carrie Ann:  10
Len: 9
Bruno: 9
Total: 28 (fist 10 of the season!)

Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas 1-800-868-3401

Mark and Chelsea danced The Quick Step to "Walking On Sunshine."  In rehearsal, Mark was trying to get Chelsea's competitive side to come out.  She said that she was a cheerleader and that she was used to cheering people on and being about fairness. To bring out her competitive nature, Mark began a huge water fight.  It worked.  She turned the hose on him. During the dress rehearsal, Mark turned his ankle.  This was not known to the audience until after the dance.  You would not know it.  They danced amazingly well.

Len said she managed to fuse high energy with control.  "Well done."

Bruno said that it was so bright and luminous that he was getting a suntan. He pointed out that she lost her balance in the corner--dude, wait, what?-- "Other wise splendid." I didn't see any stumble!  What the heck??

Carrie Ann said that they danced amazing.  That they were comepletey together.  "I didn't see no wobble-wobble." Preach it sister!

Scores:
Carrie Ann: 10
Len: 9
Bruno: 9
Total: 28

Kendra Wilkinson and Louis Van Amstel 1-800-868-3407

Kendra Wilkinson and Louis Van Amstel are dancing The Samba to "Livin' La Vida Loca"    Louis says, "Shake what God gave you!"  She said "God didn't give me my boobs."  Kristin said, "Shake what the surgeon gave you!"  Well whoever is responsible for her boobs and her bootie she shook them all.  And quite frankly she surprised me.  She surprised the judges--Len especially--when she climbed up on the table and shook it.  I still want to squash the attitude.

Carrie Ann said, "That was definitely a guilty pleasure my dear. You were so in your element.  You have proven yourself!"

Len, that dirty old man said, "The more you girated. The more I palpitated. And you fullfilled one of my guilty pleasures." (As he looked up where she had danced.)

Bruno can not be out done! "Dancing With The Stars presents Revenge of the Stripper:  Attack of the Killer Boobs!"  I think he liked it.

Carrie Ann:  8
Len: 8
Bruno: 9
Total: 28

Hines Ward and Kym Johnson 1-800-868-3403

Hines Ward and Kym Johnson dance The Viennse Waltz to "End of the Road"  Hines took to writing the dance steps down like a playbook.  Now that is a way to win the play!  And it worked.  He and Kym dance it beautiful.

Len tells Hines that he is becoming the MVP(Most Valuable Partner).  Despite being flat footed, he said the performance and dance were second to none.

Bruno told him that the chemistry he has with Kym is flawless.  "You couldn't be more fluid."

Carrie Ann said it was an excellent performance, but that it looked like he was thinking about the dance.  "I usually get drawn in."

Scores
Carrie Ann: 9 (good score for not being "drawn in")
Len: 9
Bruno: 9
Total: 27

Ralph Macchio and Karina Smirnoff 1-800-868-3408

Ralph Macchio and Karina dance The Paso Doble to "Gonna Make You Sweat(Everybody Dance Now)"  During practice, Ralph does a move where he slides across the floor on his knees.  Okay my knees just cried.  She said, "Most men 50 years old can't do that!"  He said, "I'm not 50 YET!"  They worked in "wax on. wax off." per Karina's request into the routine.  Surprisingly it worked. The dance begins and I know it's going to be amazing.  Ralph does a turn and goes down on his knee while Karina, behind him is also turning.  And then tragedy.  She gets caught in his coattails as they are still settling around him and she goes down. Hard.  Tonight in the results show you get to hear them talking to each other during that moment.  She is nearly in tears saying, "I'm so so so so sorry!"  He was so kind telling her it was okay as he got her to her feet.  And together they counted the steps.  Back and forth and then.  BOOM!  Back in the dance like nothing happened.  It was awesome.

Bruno said, "There was an incident and you know it...BUT after you got up,  I started to feel the fire.  Once you got back on it there was no stoping you!!"

Carrie Ann told him that Mr. Miyagi would be proud.  "The way you got back up put the rest of the dance to shame!"

Len told him, "You pulled her back up.  You didn't mess about. There was fire and passion.  Well done!"  Neither would take credit for being the one getting things back on task.  And Ralph was simply gracious and kind about all of it.

Scores:
Carrie Ann:  8
Len: 8
Bruno: 8
Total: 24 (Ah come ON you guys!)

I was sick as the couples were narrowed down.  Soon it was down to Chris and Cheryl and Ralph and Karina.  I do not want to see either of these guys go.  But we are getting to that point where SOMEBODY has to go home.  Tonight it was Chris and Cheryl.  He maintained that same charisma and charm and simply said that a dance will make or break you and that last night was not his dance.  He said he had the best time ever and feels like he is now moving away from his best friend like you do when you are 12.  I am so sad.  See you at the finale Chris!

I was DEVASTATED last night. I for sure thought that Ralph was going home and I definitely didn't think that Chris was even a contender to be eliminated yet. :(

Chris and Cheryl wheren't my favorite couple, but I really, really loved watching them dance.

I loved Kendra's dance. I wish I could shake it like she did - I was shocked she did so well!

Kendra shocked me too although I really kind of thought she was going home....

And Ralph... Oh my gosh I felt for Karina and I'm not a huge Karina fan but you're right, he was one awesome dude. My husband thinks he'd be a really down to earth kind of guy.
