I Squirrel A Lot

Image
I "squirrel" a lot.  Does this happen to you?  It happens to me.  Constantly.  For instance, I will be telling a story and I will think of another one right in the middle of it and launch into that one.  No worries, I will circle back eventually.  This week has been interesting to say the least.  Monday I was three kinds of cranky.  I may or may not have terrorized my family that day.  It didn't help that I had two papers due that day, one of which I had completely wrong and had to entirely rethink.  I really needed chocolate. Tuesday was a better day.  The kids went back to school.  They might not have liked it so much, but I was happy.  Did I settle into a nice a nap or relish in the quiet?  Nope.  I went shopping with my Mom and stopped only for lunch where I made fun my own horrible parking. Who parks like this!?  Well just know that you are not safe, because I even call myself out on ...

Being Lazy

Here I am still in me jammies. Rich is asleep....but then he had to get up early to go to physical therapy. Ryan and Emily are still in their jammies. Kristin is still asleep...well maybe she is awake. I don't know. She hasn't shown her face yet. At least the three of us that are down here have eaten breakfast. We are putting up the tree today. Having a fake tree used to be a crime in my mind. After freezing to the bone one year and just picking the first one we saw, I decided fake is the way to go. That and I was real tired of all the needles. Ours is long paid for. We can put it up on "Black Friday" And take it down on New Years Day. It looks the same. I guess I better get dressed. Then I can make my children do the same.

My Best Ideas

My best ideas come and the worst possible moments.  Like when I am doing 50 down the road to the neighboring city.  By the time I get home, I have long forgotten that grand idea.  Other places my genius comes to life include:  the shower, the throne, at 2 in the morning when I wake up to go...well the throne again I guess. Ryan got stung by a bee or something.  He has a welt on his thumb.  I peered at it, put a flashlight on it and still I couldn't see any evidence of a stinger or even a sliver or splinter.  He says it hurts and won't let me touch it. Speaking of Ryan, and touching...it seems he has a problem keeping his hands to himself at school.  He and a few other boys were fighting the other day (again).  I asked Ryan about it.  He said that "J" and "I" think he is food.  I thought this very odd.  I asked why they think he is food.  He said they were going to eat him.  My wheels began to turn a little.  ...

20 questions answered

I invited you to ask me questions, and you delivered.  Here are the answers everyone wants to know.  Okay maybe not everyone.  Read on and enjoy! Do you remember the name of the song we chose for a radio dedication to our three "friends"? ;)   Honestly, no.  I don't even remember doing it.  Did it get played???  LOL Good or bad or funny - Are you turning into your mother? How? Good:  It is good that I am turning into my mother.  She is a smart lady.   Bad:  Darn knees and then there is that whole senility thing. Funny:  We share a brain.  Which is sad, because we always lose it.     When have you/do you most feel like you are a good mom? When I can stay calm and keep my voice even in one of those situations that you might otherwise be screaming.  When they are sick, and I can put everything BUT them on hold.  When I can make them laugh.  Those are my "good mom" moments. what are 3 things...

Random Friday/Confessions

It's been beautiful all week long.   A little chilly at times...well chilly by CA standards.  They kept talking about the rain that was coming.  And it kept getting bumped back further and further.  So we had a gorgeous week and tomorrow and Sunday we are going to get slammed.  It's a trade off. Speaking of trade offs...having the kids at school offers a nice break from the chaos and kid shows.  But the trade off is homework.  By the time summer rolls around I am dancing with joy because I get two months without any homework.  That joy lasts for about a week. And speaking of time off for good behavior, Spring Break Easter vacation is just around the corner.  We get 2 weeks here.  In VA it was 4 days.  But then they started later and ended it way way later.  It doesn't make sense to me really since they are supposed to go to school a specific amount of days. Which reminds me, remember when summer vacation was like ...

I am going to the grocery store today.  It's my least favorite chore. Actually it is in a dead heat with laundry. Yesterday while I made lunch, Ryan told me he was going to write. I was all for it. I thought he would draw pictures and make scribbles.   He wrote his name first, then his sisters. I helped him with some of the letters. I didn't know he had come so far. Before my next thought, I apologize to teachers. I think you are awesome. That being said, homework totally sucks, and projects are sheer torture. Exhibit A: A book report made into a filmstrip.   Well thank heaven for Emmy and her Time for Tots!   Without her, it would have been an all nighter. It's true, the weather out here has been grand. Take a few minutes to hate us. I will wait. I do not take a nap in the morning on the couch. And it is not because I go to bed past midnight most nights. My mom's aunt sent her this: Women are Angels. And when someone breaks our wings.... We simply con...

I want to apologize on behalf of Southern CA to any all readers who are buried in snow, getting more snow, or has snow on the way. The movie RED DAWN scared the you know what out of me.  I was convinced for weeks, possibly months that we were going to be invaded. I love Peanut Butter Captain Crunch cereal.  I know it's disgusting and terrible for you, but I like it. We (me, mom, Kristin and Ryan) went to Wally.  It was time to restock supplies.  We had both finished up and Kristin wanted to show me some dresses that she liked.  I told my mom to get in line, figuring we would finish long before they would even begin ringing us up.  Ryan followed close behind.  Kristin showed me the collection she liked and I told her she would need something over or under that style.  We looked at a couple of other things and I pointed out that they were too short.  We headed back to the registers to meet Grandma and I started to unload my half of the ca...
