DWTS TV Theme Week

It is week five of DWTS and the pressure is on.  The remaining stars now have to really step it up if they want to stay.  And let's face it.  They all want the prize.  This week the theme is television.  Each couple will dance The Rumba, Quick Step or Foxtrot to a theme from a television show.  Sounds like it will be hard, but lots of fun.
Brandy and Maks Chmerkovskiy 1-800-868-3406

Maks and Brandy are dancing the Quick Step to Friends. A lot of unnecessary and punny remarks were made during rehearsals.  Brandy to Maks:  Will you always be there for me?"  Maks to Brandy:  Most of the time.  There dance was fun and clean.  I think all the elements were there.  She improves each week.  They even earned themselves a standing ovation.

Len said he was so impressed with their dance and assured them he was not joking.  "Without a doubt your best dance!"  Bruno congratulated Brandy and Maks telling them that they have found the right formula.  "I kept thinking you were going to lose it, " he said.  "But you were on it!"  Carrie Ann applauded her for trusting herself and her partner.

Backstage Brooke asked,  "Who's your biggest competition?"
Brandy:  Myself and my fears.

Florence Henderson and Corky Ballas  1-800-868-3409

Florence and Corky danced The Tango from you guessed it, "The Brady Bunch."  It seemed really odd to me, but it actually worked.  During rehearsals, Florence had a special guest come and visit:  Barry Williams.  It was so sweet to see them together.    Florence and Corky's Tango was sassy and started out with Florence in the most hideous red plaid frock.  Thankfully she ditched it early on to reveal the gold sparkly job you see above.  This woman amazes me.  I hope I am half as spunky as she is when I am 76!

Bruno told her the dance had a beautiful beginning and then she became a  rag doll. But he maintained it was fabulous at the beginning.  Carrie Ann said she liked it, and that the dance showed off her elegance.  Just a tiny bit of timing was off.  Len told her it was no fluke that she was still here and that this was possibly her best dance so far.

Kurt Warner and Anna Trebunskaya 1-800-868-3408

Kurt and Anna are dancing The Quick Step to  "Bewitched"  Anna has never heard of or seen Bewitched.  Oh honey we need to give you a gift set! Kurt gives her a very basic explanation but made sure he mentioned the nose twitch. Anna's attempt is okay but she is no Elizabeth Montgomrey!
Back to the dance.  I am really enjoying Kurt Warner.  There is something about him.  His presence perhaps.  He is very charming on the dance floor and I often get a Gene Kelly feel from him.  Their dance is playful and the use the musical tinklings of "Samantha's nose twitching." to their advantage.  Carrie Ann raved about him being the incarnation of Gene Kelly.  See!  Len told him after last week there was only one way to go and that was up.  "And up you have gone!"  Bruno loved the use of the twinkling magic.  And congratulated him on his form and timing.  A warning of posture, but other than that... "brilliant!"

Adrinna Patridge and Tony Dovolani 1-800-868-3401

Adrinna and Tony are dancing The Rumba to "The Hills." Adrinna is in the place Bristol was last week with this dance.  UNCOMFORTABLE.  Tony relays a story about a time when Richard Gere told him to get over the nerves of The Rumba one should dine on onions and garlic.  Fresh and straight.  Can you say BLARGH!  And she did it.  Well sort of.  She took a nice size bite out of an onion.  Chewed it for awhile then spit it out swearing she would never eat onions again.  Her comfortable level was, I felt, apparent in this dance.  It made it seem timid for a Rumba.  Len told her she had nice hip action and good chemistry with Tony, but that she looked intimidated.  "Open up more." he told her. Bruno told her that her technique had improved as well as her attention to detail.  However he wanted the dance to, "pulsate with passion!  The Rumba has to smolder!  Don't be plastic.  Be fantastic!"
Carrie Ann told her that everything from the hip down was gorgeous, but from the hip up it was still and dead.  And then in a voice that probably only dogs could hear, she accused them of a lift. Tom Bergeron said, "Carrie Ann sees lifts in her sleep."

Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer 1-800-868-3403

Kyle and Lacey are dancing the Fox Trot to the Charlie's Angels theme.  First of all, Kyle has no idea who the real Angels are.  He is under the delusion that they are:  Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu.  At least Lacey kind of knows as she sports a "Farrah Fawcett" do.  Lacey brings in Kym Johnson and Chelsie Hightower to further coach Kyle in how to do a proper Fox Trot.  A proper Fox Trot, it was not.  They did way too much disco grooving.  And I just knew Len would call them on it.  Bruno said that Kyle brings on the feel good, but that his Foxtrot was possessed by disco fever.  Carrie Ann said she disagreed and thought he made a groovy Charlie.  That he was leading and focused.  Len said, "It started out bad and got worse and worse."  He went on to say, "I couldn't stand it, it was terrible!"  Tell us how you really feel, Len.

Rick Fox and Cheryl Burke 1-800-868-3404

Rick and Cheryl dance The Rumba to Hill Street Blues.  It was pretty good but Rick has got to loosen up.  Carrie Ann is the first to speak and makes a blathering fool of herself when she does.  "Officer! Officer" she breathed.  "I need to  report a crime! It should be a crime that you can look that good and your rumba got hotter and hotter." Will someone hose her off please.  Seriously Carrie, you need a hobby. Or a man.  Len said there was ease and elegance but it was more like a couple staying together for the sake of the children.  Bruno defended that the children would be gorgerous.

Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas 1-800-868-3407

Bristol and Mark are dancing The Jive to the theme from The Monkees.  Mark comes up with the brilliant idea of  Clown lessons.  Clown lessons?  Seriously?  Where are the boys!?  How about a MONKEE MARATHON!!

Mark also thought it would be a clever idea to start in GORILLA suits!  I have to say it:  WTF!?  Gorilla suits?  Seriously!?  They are THE MONKEES!  Not The GORILLAS!  The Monkees!  Yes I am a fan!!  Thankfully they lost the gorilla suits to reveal...50's styled clothes.  Okay...I get it...it's the Jive.  But um...the Monkees were the 60's.  Sadly, the shedding of the gorilla suits threw Bristol off for the remainder of the dance.  Sorry Mark that was a BAD idea.  Do not repeat it.  Len liked it!  He said he enjoyed the Gorilla suits and wished they kept them on longer.

Bruno also loved the gorillas. However the  technique was lost after the gorillas suits were left behind.  Carrie Ann said she was happy for Bristol for trying something new and seeing a great transformation.  Hmmm is she speaking metaphorically or literally? Carrie Ann also said she made a big step forward but she forgot a lot of the moves.

Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough 1-800-868-3411

Jennifer and Derek  may be decked out to match "Leave it to Beaver," but they are dancing their Foxtrot to  Married with Children.  I seriously laughed out loud when the first chords began.  Jennifer was dusting a fifties style living room when Derek comes home.  "Hi honey, I'm home!"  It was a good dance and I enjoyed the flare they gave it.  And they are currently in jeopardy!  Really!?  I digress.  Bruno enjoyed watching the perfect housewife and told her she was pristine and elegant.  Hmmm...the judges are liking that word tonight:  elegant.  Carrie Ann said it was good, but not nearly her best.  Len said it was it bit too theatrical, and that he didn't like all the business with the feather duster.  I am with Tom who said, "This from the man who liked the monkey *cough* gorilla *cough* costumes better???"  But as my mom and sister pointed out.  Jennifer is the better dancer and that is why she shouldn't use the gimmicks.  Okay.  I accept that.

I totally agree. But I'll just talk about my faves. I liked Lacey & Kyle's dance but it did have a too much disco. The Monkey suits- hot mess! And I think Mark has a thing for Bristol. I was totally throw off with the Leave to Beaver dance to the Married w/ Children song.

Mrs. Brady (Florence Henderson) was definitely the BEST older person they've ever had performing!! I was sad to see her leave.

I think Bristol should have been the one to go this week. My mom thinks that Mark is hot for her, too. I get very sick of Carrie lusting over the men folk. Ugh.

From your reviews I agree it sounds like Bristol needs to go. And yeah that "monkey" suits would just scare me.
