CA Girl

Did you miss me yesterday?  "Of course we missed you, CA Girl!  Where were you? Is everything okay?"  Well I was fine most of Wednesday.  I went Wally and bought boring stuff and birthday presents.  I was still dragging through the time change, and hoping that this day would turn it around.  Not only did my day not get turned around, it also turned ugly around 8 or 9 at night.  My stomach started getting very cranky with me.  I passed it off as girl stuff.  I ate a snack and almost immediately wished I hadn't.  My stomach went from cranky to downright tumultuous.  I had a very rough night filled with dreams of eating strange things including cotton candy to cure my stomach.  Yes.  Cotton candy.  I don't even like it when I feel good.  I spent most of the day sleeping and nursing on crackers and soda and soup.    But I am back now, maybe not at 100% but I am back, and just because I felt all yucky does...

Spring Forward!  It sounds so happy, cheery and bright.  I love the longer daylight hours.  I love how it is warm enough to wear capris and short sleeve shirts.  No hating please.  But is it just me, or is the time change knocking everyone on their butts?  I am dragging my feet all day.  It sucks.  And the kids.  Oh my gosh.  The time change has made them cranky a bit unhappy.  I know in some places kids would be going to school in the dark without the change over.  I know I would not get those lovely long days of sunshine without it.  But man, I feel downright jet lagged.  Kristin just completed a major project at school worth 300 points.  It spans across three classes:  Language Arts, Social Studies, and History.  She chose to make a film about the Expedition of Lewis and Clark.  She wrote the script and cast it.  It is just over 7 minutes long.  We filmed it this past weekend.  ...

Roots and Wings Today I am participating in the Ten on Tuesday meme.  Not to be confused with Ten Things to Smile About .  This one asks ten random questions and you can answer them straight up or put a little humor into it.  Guess which route I took? 1. What is your cleaning style like?  Ummm....I don't.  Really what it is, I clean like a mad woman when I can no longer stand it. 2. I got it good.  I may be living paycheck to paycheck and gas prices might be over $4 a gallon but I got it good.  Might spend a full $100 more a month on groceries than I did last year, but I got it good.  I told my sister yesterday that my house is a disaster.  It's not.  It's very messy.  But a disaster it is not.  Take a 6 minutes to watch this video . My life is good.  I am safe, sheltered, fed, and have my car.  My prayers go out to all who have been affected by this true disaster. 

Today is not just any other day.  It's Friday.  But it's not just any old Friday either.  This Friday is a special day.  What makes this Friday so special?  Well, someone special to me was born this very day.  He's a man of many moods. He can be grumpy.  He can be silly He loves to make his children laugh And he is willing to play He gave me three precious gifts Happy Birthday, Rich!!!

It is Thursday and I am playing along with Jenny Matlock and her Alphabae-Thursday meme.  It's lots of fun, and she reads all the posts.  This week's letter is V. And I thought of the word "very."  How often do we use that word?  Has it lost its meaning?  Allow me to demonstrate.   Yesterday was a very busy day for me.  I had a chaotic morning, but my morning did not suck. I got a hair cut.  My hairdresser found a white hair.  It was curly.  How weird is that?  It is very weird.  I had an appointment with the school in the afternoon.  An IEP meeting.  We are changing some services for Emily and we are very hopeful she will benefit from these changes.   But I do not want to bore you with the very tedious details of my day.  Instead, I would like to share some pictures that I am very proud of! Do you ever have one of THOSE mornings?  You know the kind?  The kind where everything goes wrong-and-you-can't-find-your-keys-because-you-were-sitting-on-them.  Yes, it was that kind of morning. First of all, I am sick.  It can leave now.  The way I am trying to cough up a lung you would think I could get rid of it.  I woke up late because I am a light weight I took cold medicine that "may cause drowsiness" last night.  In the world of me, that means I will be in a fog for about 24 hours.  And I only took half the dose.  Yeah.  I only take that stuff out of desperation.  So I am tired and sick...wait.... that would be sick and tired and trying to get the kids going. The boy is testing me more than he ever has.  I hope he realizes how much restraint I exercised.  Especially when he stuck his fingers in his ears and sang out, "LALALALALALA."
