When Opportunity Knocks

Image
My son is at that age where he simply doesn't want his picture taken. As soon as he sees the camera he treats it like he is the much sought after star and I am the paparazzi. He hides or puts his hand. "No," he says, "Don't take my picture!" So on Sunday, when asked me to take his picture, you better believe I jumped right on that band wagon! Of course I made the other two pose with him. Why not???

God Bless the USA

I am way behind in my blogging. Part of that is due my new life. I digress. I thought I would come back with a bang. Tomorrow we celebrate our nation's independence. Let us not forget who gave us that independence, and let us not forget those who continue to do so at the risk of their own lives. Remember and support our soldiers., and their families they leave behind. Happy 4th everyone!

I Blame My Husband!

Image
This morning Rich sent me a link through yahoo for this silly game called circle the cat. Sounds silly right? Try it? It's not so silly and you may find yourself trying over and over until you think you got him cornered and then whoops he slips away. Dang cat! It took several attempts but I finally beat the little critter! So if you try it, don't blame me. Blame my husband. He started it!

What A Shock

It wasn't enough to lose Farrah Fawcett, we had to lose Michael Jackson too. Now say what you will about his choices, and his life. I am certainly not qualified to judge him there. But he was talented, and could put on a heck of a show. I was a fan of him during his Thriller days. I am not sure how to react to his death. He was so young. I remember thinking 50, heck 40 was OLD. Now I see how young that truly is. Farrah Fawcett was only 62, and she fought a terrible and long battle of cancer. Michael Jackson had a clean bill of health at 50 and was probably dead before the paramedics even got to him. I do not have a clip of Farrah, although I will always remember her outstanding performance in The Burning Bed, but I found this clip of Michael Jackson that I felt show cased his dancing talent. Thank you Farrah, thank you Michael for entertaining us with your talents. No matter what choices you made in this life, we will miss you.

I Got Tagged!

Emily at Emmy Mom--One Day at a Time tagged me. This seems like a lot of fun. Here is what you do: Open my first photo folder Scroll down to the 10th photo Post that photo and story on my blog Tag five friends to do the same Now I have piles upon piles of folders in my documents. Some of which, have folders within folders. I decided to do what Emmy did and post two. The first one that comes up has a folder in it. So I am choosing the tenth from the first and the one that is inside. This is Christmas 06. As you can plainly see, this child is not at all deprived of having something to play with. The table is really cute it sings, lights up, all the bells and whistles. I think it is Leap Frog. It was from Santa. He sure is smart! Awwww poor little guy! Ryan was 15 months old here. He had climbed onto our kitchen table for what was probably the umpteenth time. He would climb up on the chairs first and then onto the table. Since I was out of the room when it happened, I can...

The Chronicles of Lourie

Image
I have really been slacking with my blog. I need to not only get back into it, I need to create a routine for it. I thought it would be good to start back up with The Chronicles of Lourie. I was actually thinking of this the other day and tracked it down in my emails. This is from 2004, when Kristin was just six and still very much into Disney Princesses. It goes away so fast. I hardly had time to think when she went from Sleeping Beauty to Kim Possible to Hillary Duff and currently Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers. Sigh. I miss those pretty princess days. Anyway, this particular moment in time, I thought I would be a grand teacher and tell her about a very real princess. A princess named Diana. Here I thought I would teach my daughter a wonderful lesson by showing her a real life princess! She is very into distinguishing what is real and what isn't. Is this a story? Is that real? She learns about all sorts of people at school from Hellen Keller to Martin Luthe...

Laying Low

Image
Today I am doing what I like to refer as, 'laying low.' On a typical day of laying low, I generally don't go anywhere. I stay home and pad around the house taking care of things that are long over due or in need of my immediate attention. Oh and I play on the computer. After three days of Disneyland style days I needed to "lay low." As I posted earlier, I have taken on a "babysitting" job. I wouldn't call it babysitting since these girls are 12. I would call it "tween management." In the first three days of tween management, we have been to the park, a pool party, and out to dinner at a fast food place. I am spent. I needed a day to regroup. So here is what I did today. I went to Wal-Mart and spent a small fortune. They are completely redoing the store so nothing is where it is supposed to be so it took twice as long to get my shopping done. I went to my mom's for lunch with my kids in tow--just mine--then headed home for w...
