DWTS Movie Night
Tonight is dancing in the movies! Well actually it is dancing to themes from famous movies. And some are quite...*ahem* "Impossible." You might say the producers, or whomever picks the music have gone completely "Psycho!" Okay enough with the puns....
Chynna and Tony are up first and they have to Tango to "Mission Impossible." First of all she put WAY too much pressure on herself. And it showed, because she messed up and you could see Tony counting/talking her through it. On the results show you get to hear what they are saying. I always like that part. Tony was lowered in at the beginning of the dance from the ceiling a'la Tom Cruise. The dance could have been really great. But she really was stressed out.
Len liked the balance of the character of dance and the flavor of the film, but noted that there were a lot of mistakes.
Bruno told her not to worry because she flash, burn, and hot! BUT she lost the plot. He told her he hoped that she comes back to show what she can do.
Carrie Ann pointed out and admired how she did not lose her composure. And that what she did was exquisite.

David and Kym danced The Paso Doble to the Indiana Jones theme. David is ever improving, and delivers a strong and powerful Paso! They receive a standing ovation.
Bruno says, "Look at me David! I love the way you crack your whip!" He goes on to say that he is like a pumped up action hero ready to take us on a wild ride. He advises him to watch his turns because he is a bit unsteady.
Carrie Ann said that David saved the day, and that she loved every minute of it.
Len said it had a great entry attitude, but after that it was the "Temple of Doom!" (Courtney Cox looked shocked by that remark) Len said he (David) was doing too much of stomping of the feet. Bruno argued that it was good and strong that way--the way he liked it!

Carson and Anna danced a Waltz to The Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of The Black Pearl. Carson likes pirates because they wear tights, open shirts and hunt for jewelry. Anna brings in a professional swordsmen to teach Carson some dueling techniques, which he later thanks the pro for wearing his shirt open. He is a total character. The dance itself would have been better suited as a freestyle. It didn't make it as a Waltz but it was wildly entertaining.
Carrie Ann called it his most butch performance yet, but said he was a conundrum because she always knows everyone will have a good time but the technique is...and she made a weird noise. To which Tom replied "Well, after that articulate critique...Len?"
Len said there was no finesse no quality of movement but it was great fun and if he was home he would vote for him.
Bruno dubbed it Pirates 5 The revenge of The Gay Blade. "You lost your step a few times but it was fun!"

Nancy and Tristan must Paso Doble to Flash Gordon by Queen. Nancy does really good right up til the very end and then her footing gets mesed up. It was like she was trying to do the splits or something. I am not sure, but it went wrong.
Len told her she is confident, but he can't get excited because it's not exciting.
Bruno told her she's got to become a ball breaker out there, much like her TV persona.
Carrie Ann chastised them both and told them to give Nancy a little more credit she only advised her to connect more to the audience.

Hope and Maks are doing the Fox Trot to Toy Story's "You've Got A Friend In Me." I think the whole is super cute despite fighting in rehearsal as Maks often does with his partners. Just the same, they pull it together on the floor.
Bruno says it is so lovely to see Jesse and Woody back together and making sweet music. "You're so nice Maks. And when you're nice she's nice!"
Carrie Ann said they made her smile the whole way through. And that it was so refershing about seeing her having fun.
Len gave it the honest truth, "You could all the way, you are the great dancer(Maks) and you are the great soccer player(Hope) and the more you polish the more you'll shine on this floor. I don't think you're doing that. You do that, and you'll go all the way!" More time in rehearsal kids!

Rob and Cheryl dancing The Paso Doble to Superman. Okay, I admit it, I am not a fan of Rob's. But he is improving. Every week he has gotten better. Dang. He still kind of bugs me. But yep, he is getting better. Dang.
Carrie Ann says she likes the way he moves! "There is something the way about the way you move. It all works." Uhhh... can we can some ice over here...STAT.
Len said that he didn't mind it. "I can't go into rapture about it." He described Rob as a waiter in an otherwise "living dance."
Bruno told him it was time to take on the world. "You do move well, but you need to believe in yourself. Nobody is going to that for you but yourself."

Derek and Rikki are dancing The Tango to Psycho and the pressure is hot. At one point Rikki literally asks him if anyone has ever quit. Despite that...an amazing performance is turned out with a praticially impossible piece. At the end, only their shadows are seen as Derek "murders" Rikki. Carrie Ann mouths (wow) and Bruno's hands are in the air; amazed.
Len said she was like the US mail: she always delivered. He advised her to lift her neck more, but other wise..."Top of the leader board."
Bruno called it a block busting performance with the thrill of the chase, the build of tension and the chill of the ending and and immaculate tribute to the master of suspense!
Carrie Ann said, "pretty simple: brilliant in the ballroom. Done."

Chaz and Lacey dance The Paso Doble to theme from Rocky. Chaz is hurting a lot during rehearsals and Lacey brings a professional too. Richard Simmons. That was kind of entertaining. As for the dance. I was not impressed. Again, Lacey is the doing the dancing. And yes, Cher was in the audience.
Bruno said he kept in the true spirit of Rocky because he keep coming back and fighting no matter how many hits he takes. Ummm Bruno, that's because people keep VOTING for him!
Carrie Ann is crying? What the what? Why? At least she said she didn't know why. She said she found herself cheering, "Go! Go! Go!"
Len said it was just like Rocky, "you're getting stronger." He said it wasn't a knock out performance, but it was his best. I totally disagree with all of this. The first was his best. After that, he lost his steam. End of story. Time for Chaz to go. I think his knees will thank the voters for letting him do so.

JR and Karina are dancing The Fox Trot to the theme from The Pink Panther. Karina brought in a professional (male) dancer to teach JR how to dance the Fox Trot. Their dance was great. They even added the humor of the movies into the dance. And I loved his pink tux.
Carrie Ann thought the dance was okay, and that it also fell a little flat. She also felt the humor didn't belong. And then she accused them of a lift. Len is chomping at the bit to say otherwise. Me too! What in the world, Carrie Ann! Were you even watching them?
Len said he was the best male dancer of the night. He said that JR had great technique and there was just enough humor in the dance which he enjoyed.
Bruno said the humor was subtle, and that JR was a great dancer with great abilities.

And I might start watching once Chaz goes home- people should not be voted through because they like their mom.
