Dancing With the Stars week 2

It is week two of DWTS and the dances are The Jive and The Quick Step. I am not in agreement with the judges on a lot of the dances.  I think they are slipping and need a vacation.  I will happily take their place for an episode or two.

In rehearsal for her Jive, Hope was doing soccer kicks.  Maks, completely out of character, was laughing all the way through it.  He must like her.  He also attended a game of hers.  Yep.  He's sweet on her.  Their dance, was kickin'...to coin a phrase.

Len said it was great and fast moving, but that she lost timing at the begining.  "I say what I see!"(After being booed.) Bruno said she had thighs that could crack a walnut, but that she has to be precise and that she lost it too many times. He said it is time to apply herself.  Carrie Ann said she was great, flirtatious and it was a new side of her.  But there were a few mess ups. She advised her to relax into it.

Kristin and Mark 1-800-868-3403

Mark says that Kristin has the musicality down, and she needs to do is punch it.  He even had her punch his hands to give her the idea.  Their quick step was bubbly and fun.  And I enjoyed it.

Bruno said he had been bedazzled by  the blonde bomb shell twinkling with pleasure. He told her to be careful with holds because she lost them at times.  "You got so excited you missed it."   Carrie Ann said that last week she was nervous, and this week she was stunning, sophisticated and showed a  complete transformation. Len said, she looked fantastic, but it wasn't as good as she looked.  He said the footwork could have been cleaner, and she broke holds, but overall a great improvement and well done.

David said (in rehearsal) that the jive is very fun and also very complicated.  I thought they did a good job, but I also thought his pants were too tight and I felt it may have hindered his performance.

Carrie Ann said that Carson has some competition meaning he had incredible enthusiasm.  She told to stop dancing from shoulders,and send it down.  Len said he was almost speechless and said that any connection that dance had with a  jive was a coincidence. (Ouch!  that one hurt!  He's grumpy again.) "I like the enthusiasm, but it was too wild and frantic." Bruno said, "We told you not to hold back and you didn't!  It was like a runaway train bordering on derailment all the way through!"He went on to say that he has the persona and confidence now he just needs the technique.

 Elisabetta and Val 1-800-868-3407

Elisabetta and Val   got dubbed as The Bickersons by Tom (Burgeron).  They fought continually during rehearsal.  This is pretty typical as it your partnership is like a marriage.  She doesn't take criticism well and Val is very much like his brother Maks.  Their dance was the quick-step and I was not overly impressed with her.

Len said it was not great, but that it was better than last week. Bruno said she was back on track with gears grinding and pistons pumping.  Bruno this is the Quick Step, not the Samba or Rumba!  Carrie Ann said she nailed it and that quick step was her dance.  Meh, what do I know?

Rob and Cheryl 1-800-868-3402

Rob and put a hole in the wall during rehearsal.  It was totally an accident, but I am not sure how he did it. Their Jive, for me, was painful to watch...Bruno said he has blossomed and found his own voice.  "Great improvement."  Carrie Ann toted, "It's official Rob is a better dancer than Kim.  That was fantastic!"  Len said it was a proper Jive, that he was confident and that it was well done.  Did they see the same dance as me???

Carson and Anna 1-800-868-3409

Carson is hilarious.  He originally thought that the quick step would be an easier dance for him, until he came to footwork. That tripped him up...literally.  Still their dance was spunky and fun.

Carrie Ann saw improvement but said he was a little wobbly. She noted that theirs is not a good balance or partnership. Well he really wants Derek for a partner.   Len said, "If I held my knife and fork like you held Anna I would starve."(See my previous remark) Bruno said it was like PeeWee Herman goes to the prom. He said the entertainment is right, but the technique isn't.

Rikki and Derek 1-800-868-3411

Rikki  says she can't believe Kirstie (Alley) ever did this. Keep in mind that Kirstie is 20 years her Senior.   So far Rikki has lost 12 inches in 3 weeks!!  I want to do the DWTS program!!!  Their Jive is awesome.  What can I say.

Len said there were  a couple of sets that disturbed him, "I don't like it." he said.  He wanted more jive content.  Bruno said she was the first person to hit and kick correctly.  "And you got to sit on Derek as well!" (And pull him back up by the waist of his pants!)
Carrie Ann said it was the best jive of the night (so far). And she also made note of her kicks as well.

Chaz and Lacey 1-800-868-3412

This week Chaz is feeling the pain...in his knees.  And boy so am I.  Any time a celeb talks knee pain I am cringing.  I feel it.  He was wrapping them and rubbing ointment into them. He said his knees hated the dance and that they hated her (Lacey) she looked at the camera and said, "I don't care."   I was not impressed with their Quick Step. He did way better last week.
Bruno said it was like watching a little ewok dancing with Princess Leia. He said it was cute, but that the Quick Step required speed and he didn't have it. Carrie Ann said he was charming yes, but the pain held him back.
Len said that it's a quick step and that he moves faster through the car wash.

As Chynna struggled in her rehearsal, she got very mad and cursed and then said, "I'm sorry Jesus, I just have to curse!"  And later on Twitter she said, "Oh my goodness, Sorry Jesus is now trending worldwide. This may or may not be because of my potty mouth. #whoops #sorryjesus #DWTS  Carrie Ann said she really enjoyed watching her, but felt she played it safe.  Len said he really felt she was going to attack it, but that it needed more.  Bruno said there is a sexy siren in there and he wants her to let her out.

Nancy and Tristan 1-800-868-3405

Nancy hit a wall in rehearsal this week.  Not like Rob.  No she hit that point where she couldn't go any further.  This is another common occurrence. I would be right there with them.  The next day they talked and she was ready to try again.  And she worked hard.  And it showed.

Len said it was very refreshing to see a proper quick step. Bruno said she was vivacious and confident, but a bit top heavy at times.  Carrie Ann said she saw  improvement and that she loved the team work that came out of it.

JR and Karina are dancing The Jive and in rehearsal JR teases that a step doesn't look manly to him.  He goofs a little and grins, but in the end does what is asked of him.  On the floor he amazes again.  The judges are going to nit pick because he is that good.  He needs the votes because he is not as well known as the others.  But he is good. 


Bruno said he is born to dance and that it was the most satisfying dance overall of the night.  Carrie Ann growled angrily at them and shook a fist because of the illegal lift in the otherwise fantastic dance.  Watch out...The Lift Nazi is back!!  No Points For You!  Or at least...one less.
Len said it was too much of a Lindy Hop and not enough Jive. "It was a great dance. It wasn't a jive."  What!???  It looked like a Jive to me.
