Pour Your Heart Out...

Today I am participating in Shell's Pour Your Heart Out.  If you haven't heard of this Meme before, head on over to Shell's place and read all about it.  If you have something you need to get off your chest this is the time to do it.

My best friend is moving.  Actually.  She moved!  It's done.  It sucks.  She isn't far.  We can still get together.  Just not as often as we are used to.  Our sons are best friends too.  And when you are 5 and 6 it's hard to understand why you just can't go to your friends house.

It's funny how life works.  We met a long time ago actually.  About one month before she married my cousin.  My Grandma had a stroke.  I went to Utah to see my Grandma one last time.  It was hard.  And it was just another notch in what was a miserable vacation.  The whole family was there.  It was amazing.  My cousin was there with his bride to be.  I only remembered her name.  I would be pretty sad if I forgot a name like EMILY!    And who knew that just eight years later that same Emily would soon become my best friend.

I knew when they moved here in 09 that it was temporary.  But I was excited still to have a friend, to have family, and to have someone for my son.  Two years isn't long.  I told myself.   So it is good they haven't gone far.  It still makes me sad though.  No more walks.  But thank goodness for technology.  We will get together still.  But my best friend has moved.  :(

She may have moved, but I will see her next week and again next month.  So it's not so horrible.  But still...my best friend moved.

It is SO hard to move away from your best friend. My best friend of 20 years now lives in Seattle. My other best friend who I can't imagine life without now lives in Chicago. My closest friends from Law School all live in New York. I'm all alone in the South . . . POUT.

Glad you get to see her again soon!

I met my best friend when we were both at college and now we both live back in our hometowns. It's not too far away, but far enough that we dont get to just randomly meet for coffee or go to the movies and things like that. I hate it.

Oh, I'm so sorry!

The hardest thing for me when I moved was leaving my best friend. :(

You two are so cute.

I'm so sad for both of you girls! Someone moving is hard enough, even when best friends aren't involved. I'm glad you still live close enough to see each other sometimes!!

So sorry about your friend moving. It's tough losing that daily contact, but like you said, modern technology does make it easier to keep in touch.

I don't like it one bit.
How far is she?
If my bff moved I would crawl into a hole and die. :( Well, cry.

oi, i know how you feel. my best friend of 16 years (we met when we were 4, we lived so close to each other) moved to another state in middle school and it SUCKS. i only get to see her about once or twice a year, but with technology it's easy to stay in contact.
it's good you still live close enough to see each other though!

aww I'm sorry your best friend moved!! That is really hard but u can stay in touch! My best friend moved to Texas awhile back and it is super far and hard to stay in touch, and we stay in touch through blogging and email and facebook and phonecalls. Thats great that you can still get together:)

Thank for you for your friendship- I am so glad we got to live by you even if it was for just over two years.

Sucks having friends move! But I just realized when I saw your picture, that you got to live next to EMMY!?!?! You lucky duck.

Yeah, I'm having to explain that whole "why did she move away?" thing to my 5-year old... he misses his cousin like crazy!

OK - that's a great PYHO. That's really funny though because I just clicked on this post on Shell's page because it said CA. Since I live in CA, I figured I would read THIS ONE. How random that your bestie is Emmy, who I just "met" via Twitter last week. I recognized her face instantly! So random!

I have moved many, many times (enough that I think I will never have a local BFF) - and I will say that it is really nice that technology has changed to the point where we can skype & text one another. I know some older women who were separated by a move a long time ago when they had to write LETTERS and stamp them. CRAZY!

Love this post!
