Thumbs Up
My dad is a funny fellow. I don't necessarily mean he is a comedian, though he does has have his rare moments of silliness. For as long as I can remember, whenever my dad completed task such as mowing the lawn, washing a car, or building a fence he would stand back and take in what he had done. I used to think this was such odd behavoir. Yes, you mowed the lawn, but haven't you done this before? The car is clean, but it's been cleaned before. Okay, so the fence was a big deal. As an adult I can honestly say I now understand his wanting to stand back to see his work done. There is a certain satisfaction to completing a task you set out to do. I have sewn a couple of dresses for my daughters over the years for baptisms, Easter and Halloween. I am not a seamstress at all. Sewing is very difficult for me, so when I am done with a project I hold it up or hang it up where I can look at my work and say, "Look what I did!"
Today was the first day since I got sick that I have been able to really get down and dirty and clean the house. It's not spotless by any sense of the imagination, it may never be. Today I cleaned the bathrooms and mopped the kitchen floor. It was really gross. Now that I am done, I can see my hard work shinning back at me in that clean floor. I look at it think, "Hey, I did that!" So for me, a big thumbs up!
